  • Patent number: 7638079
Abstract: Extra coagulant is added to the cuff portion of the former by a spray nozzle located between the coagulant and latex dipping tanks. A former is placed into a coagulant. After removal from the coagulant, additional coagulant to the cuff portion of the former by any conventional means, such as a spray nozzle. The higher concentration of coagulant at the cuff portion results in a thicker latex thickness at the cuff portion and counteracts the reduced dwell time of the cuff in the latex dipping tank as compared to the fingertip portion of the former. The thickness of the cuff portion can be controlled by altering the concentration of the coagulant applied by the spray nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7176260
Abstract: The invention is the manipulation of the zinc oxide content and sulfur content of nitrile butadiene rubbers and selected vulcanization conditions that can be achieved economically with common production facilities. The manipulation of these components affects the relaxation property of gloves formed by this material. Produced are gloves that have a relaxation property, higher than 50%, and a low modulus (approximately 3 Mpa). The glove maintains decent ultimate tensile strength (>20 Mpa) and elongation (>500%). The glove is produced by a vulcanization process, which lasts from 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300° F. to 400° F. The tensile strength and elongation are well above the ASTM requirements for medical gloves. The current ASTM requirements are ASTM D412-92. Thanks to sufficient vulcanization, the films produced provide satisfactory protection from viral penetration. The tearing strength is also better because of the lower modulus.

  • Patent number: 6955093
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring the penetration depth of a blunt object before failure of a film sample, such as a glove. Failure occurs when a film sample secured to a column ruptures from the force applied by a stylus. The penetration depth of the blunt object is equal to the distance traveled by the stylus under the method of the invention. With the measurement of the penetration depth and the force applied by the stylus, a quantitative measurement of the rupture strength of the film sample is obtained.

  • Patent number: 6508456
Abstract: The cable puller uses a compound handle to create great leverage in order to generate a large pulling force with a minimal amount of force applied by the operator. The pulling force can be used for heavy lifting applications. The cable puller could be used to hoist motors, shafts, gears, automobile engines, construction material, machinery and other heavy objects. The cable puller could also be used in the demolition of building structures, the erection of buildings and towers, straightening collision damage, opening railroad car doors, securing tent structures, stretching fence and wire, and tightening conveyor belts. In one embodiment, the handle creates a lever ratio of 65:1. In this instance, 8,000 lbs. can be lifted with an exertion of 123 lbs. of force by the operator. The compound handle is formed by a driven member that engages and rotates the ratchet wheel. A cable is taken up by the wheel in order to move objects. The driven member is connected to a driving member by a connection member.

  • Patent number: 6451893
Abstract: A new formulation for producing nitrile gloves has been developed. The resulting glove shows following outstanding characteristics: stress at six minutes greater than 50% of its initial value; ultimate tensile strength and elongation well above ASTM requirements; and much lower modulus than almost all the nitrile gloves currently commercially available. The unique formulation is zinc oxide free and is vulcanized from 5 to 60 minutes at temperatures ranging from 300° F to 400° F.

  • Patent number: 6434252
Abstract: A ribbon microphone having magnets positioned adjacent north and south pole pieces. The magnets are of uniform thickness along their lengths, and do not taper. The pole pieces are substantially the same width as the magnets. An offset ribbon is disposed in an air gap between the pole pieces. The offset ribbon is not centered in the air gap, but rather is offset from a center line which bisects the magnets and pole pieces. The offset ribbon is located closer to the front of the microphone than the back of the microphone. The flux area is uniform and corresponds to the area of the air gap between the pole pieces.

  • Patent number: 5965632
Abstract: A two paste glass ionomer type dental cement system, with both pastes being, preferably, of similar consistency. The first paste represents primarily a suspension of an inert filler in a water solution of polyacrylic acid, or its copolymers with other ethylenically unsaturated acids, having molecular weight of 25,000 to 100,000 and, optionally, various additives, such as filler suspending agents, coloring agents, agents influencing working/setting time (retardants or accelerators), Theological agents, pH modifiers, etc. The other paste represents primarily a particulate glass flux containing silicon and aluminum oxides, calcium fluoride and, optionally, other inorganic salts, including aluminum phosphate, and sodium, barium and aluminum fluorides, suspended in a liquid medium consisting primarily of a water solution of a hydrophilic acrylic monomer or polymer. In order to achieve a desirable consistency, organic or inorganic thickening agents may be added in suitable quantities.
