Abstract: A vehicle steering system has a steering handle as well as steered vehicle wheels connected with one another with respect to the effect at least in the normal operation only by way of a control device ("steer by wire") which compares the signals of a steering angle actual value generator operated by the vehicle wheels and of a steering angle desired value generator operated by the handle. The control device controls a motor used as a manual force adjuster which is coupled with the handle by way of a torsionally elastic shaft arrangement. The extent of the torsionally elastic deformation is analyzed for determining the actual value of the manual force.
Abstract: Disclosed is an automatic clutch intended for an engine-transmission unit in a vehicle. When in the closing stage, the clutch works under contact overpressure conditions, so that the torque transmitted by the clutch is higher by a set quantity than the engine generated torque. At low external temperature, the contact overpressure is reduced, resulting in a shorter clutch adjustment path and in less energy being required for clutching, thereby compensating for the greater stiffness of the clutch control element.
Abstract: A cylinder head with two overhead camshafts is divided by longitudinal and transverse walls into several subspaces in the area of its leakage-oil-carrying interior. Due to this partitioning of the leakage-oil-carrying interior, it is ensured that oil scavenging is as fast as possible and oil foaming is simultaneously minimized.
Abstract: A purification apparatus and method for enabling the purification of the lake and pond waters, is installed as a fluidized bed sewage system directly on the raw water area. The apparatus takes in the raw waters in the lake and pond and purifies the water. The purified water is fed back to the raw water area by the pump.With this purification apparatus, the salt materials such as phosphate in the lakes, and the overall area of the waters can be purified while preventing the generation of phytoplanktons.
Abstract: A method for operating an NOx trap for an internal combustion engine includes measuring parameters that influence the delay between the metering of a regenerating agent and its becoming effective in regenerating the NOx trap. Such parameters include the fuel film on an intake wall and the quantity of oxygen bonded in the catalytic converters upstream of the NOx trap. Measuring these parameters helps determine the quantity of regenerating agent or the number of working cycles required for regeneration of the NOx trap.

Abstract: A MacPherson strut tower made in one piece for a motor vehicle, especially an automobile, is permanently connected with at least one adjoining side member of the body structure. The MacPherson strut tower, formed by a hollow body produced by the internal high-pressure shaping method, results in a significant increase in torsional stiffness of the body structure since the two side members and the MacPherson strut tower are assembled to form a three-dimensional supporting structure with continuous closed hollow member sections.

Abstract: A failure diagnosis apparatus for an internal combustion engine having an intake air swirl control valve, includes a broken wire detection unit, a target opening degree/actual opening degree deviation detection unit, an opening degree abnormally detection unit and a target opening degree execution abnormality detection unit. Abstract: In order to avoid severe stressing of seat-belt straps which are placed over trim panels in motor vehicles, which may lead to the trim panel being damaged, a guide rocker is positioned in the deflecting region of the seat belt. The rocker is secured to the bodywork and is pivotably mounted in an attachment region and has two mutually opposite guide limbs. The angle of contact of the seat-belt strap against the guide limb which is on the seat-belt retractor side is greater than in the region of the guide limb which is on the trim-panel side.
Abstract: A shock absorber for a motor vehicle has a deformation body, which can be deformed in the case of a collision and into the path of which a blocking part protrudes, with which, due to the forces acting during a collision, a plastic deformation of the deformation body is achieved with absorption of the collision energy, it being possible to increase the deformation resistance of the deformation body by directing it into an additional deformation stage. For this purpose, the blocking body has at least two switched positions, in which it protrudes into the path of movement of the deformation body, as a result of which the deformation body is plastically deformed to a greater or lesser extent due to the forces acting during impact.

Air outlets of the guide channel are directed at the side window and are located in an area that faces the inside window. The ventilating device is made, especially in areas visible to vehicle occupants, in a suitable visual design. The air guide channel is formed in a separate channel part that is mounted on the vehicle side component and which contains air outlets that terminate in the vicinity of a gap formed between the vehicle side component and the side window.
Abstract: An air intake system for an internal combustion engine in which the air, which is taken in, passes via an air filter (3) to the internal combustion engine through an intake passage within which a damping cavity volume (5) is provided which acts as a Helmholz resonator. The effective damping cavity volume (5) is sized such that a given noise frequency range can be attenuated, and in order to achieve optimum noise suppression, at least a partial flow of air passes through the damping cavity volume, and the size of the effective damping cavity volume (5) through which the air passes can be varied by reversible switches and/or valves.
