  • Patent number: 6234011
Abstract: A simulation apparatus for simulating vehicle movement during actual running has a mock vehicle that is provided with a truck and a vibrator, and a numerical model that is virtually connected to the mock vehicle and stored in a digital computer. Wheels are joined to the bottom portion of the truck, and a driving machine for rotationally driving the wheels is provided under the wheels. The driving machine drives the wheels in such a manner as to simulate a running surface such as a road or rails. The rotation of the wheels causes the truck to generate reaction force. A reaction force measuring device measures this reaction force. Based on a resulting measurement value and the numerical model stored in the digital computer, the digital computer calculates a vehicle movement after a lapse of a preset time. A controller controls the vibrator so as to realize the calculated vehicle movement.

  • Patent number: 6233921
Abstract: A method reduces harmful exhaust-gas emissions of a spark-ignition, direct fuel injection engine operated with a lean fuel/air mixture. Under part load, the engine is operated in the stratified-charge mode with a &lgr; value of >1, and to reduce nitrogen oxides adsorbed on a catalyst, a jump to a homogeneous mode with air ratios of lambda <1 is carried out at specific intervals by throttling of the air quantity supplied and/or by an increase in the fuel injection quantity. In a first step, the air quantity in the combustion space is reduced by changes in the valve control times and, in a second step, a transition is made from the stratified-charge mode to the homogeneous mode, with a &lgr; value of less than 1 being set.

  • Patent number: 6233807
Abstract: A process is provided for automatically screw-connecting two components using the torque-controlled tightening method, and to a stud and a union nut provided for carrying out the process. Also provided are an automatic fitting machine and a connecting element via which the two components are screw-connected. In order for it to be possible to execute the screw-connection operation quickly and to obtain a secure connection between the two components, the process provides for the connecting element first of all to be pre-tightened with rotary-angle control and then to be tightened definitively with torque control. The connecting element has two same-direction threaded sections of different pitches and each threaded section is screw-connected to one component in each case. The stud for carrying out the process has a screw head for the engagement of a suitable fitting tool, a marking which indicates the angular position of the stud being arranged on the screw head.

  • Patent number: 6235951
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane. This method includes the steps of (a) adding hydrogen fluoride to 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene in the presence of an addition catalyst to obtain 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-3-chloropropane; and (b) disproportionating the 1,1,1,3-tetrafluoro-3-chloropropane into the 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and 1,1,1-trifluoro-3,3-dichloropropane, in the presence of a disproportionation catalyst. This method is a useful method for producing 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane in an industrial scale, because its steps (a) and (b) are respectively superior in selectivity and yield. According to the invention, 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene may be produced by a method including a step of reacting 1,1,1,3,3-pentachloropropane with hydrogen fluoride in a gas phase in the presence of a fluorination catalyst. This method is useful, because yield of 1-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene is high.

  • Patent number: 6234269
Abstract: An operating element is provided for a proximity regulating device for vehicles with an actuating lever. The operating element actuating lever has a rotatably mounted head that can assume a plurality of radial switch positions. If the head is in its initial switch position, the proximity regulating device sets an initial distance from a leading vehicle. As the result of the rotary movement from this initial switch position, one or more additional radial switch positions can be set for a near distance in which the proximity regulating device sets a set distance from a leading vehicle that is shorter than the initial distance. Finally, one or more radial switch positions are provided in which the proximity regulating device sets a far distance that is greater than the initial distance.
