  • Patent number: 8272074
Abstract: A restraint device for controlling the head of a driver during a high-performance vehicle collision. The device includes a support member having a back portion and shoulder portions that extend at least partially over the shoulders of the driver; a tether for attaching the support member to the driver's helmet; and at least one anchor strap attached at one end to the support member and at the other end to the vehicle's seat belt assembly, driver's truck, and/or driver's legs, which serves to anchor the device and oppose forward and rearward movement of the driver's head during a collision event, reducing the likelihood of injury. The shoulder portions are configured to engage the vehicle's shoulder belts, which improves the restraint device's ability to resist forward movement and downward rotation of the driver's head that is caused by a collision event.

  • Patent number: 8152543
Abstract: An outlet cover for an electrical outlet which prevents unintentional disconnection of an electrical plug from the electrical outlet. The outlet cover includes a plate having at least one opening sized and positioned to receive the electrical plug and a lid hingedly attached to the plate so that the lid can be moved between an open position that allows access to the electrical outlet and a closed position wherein the electrical outlet is covered by the lid. The lid includes a base, a prong having a proximal portion connected to, and extending outwardly from, the base, and a distal portion that is spaced from the base by the proximal portion. The electrical cord is positioned between the prong and the base such that the prong and base cooperate together to secure the electrical cord such that the electrical plug is not unintentionally disconnected from the electrical outlet.

  • Patent number: 7934897
Abstract: An apparatus and method for coupling different body types to a truck, specifically interchanging between dump and trailer bodies, so that a single truck may be used to perform dump truck and tractor truck operations. The truck includes a pair of rearward extending frame rails and a mounting bracket to which a 5th wheel may be releaseably attached. The truck is adapted for carrying at least one of a 5th wheel and a hydraulic lift system and, thus, is capable of being coupled to a trailer body or dump body, respectively.

  • Patent number: 7771823
Abstract: The present invention provides films and substrates coated with films that comprise a nano-crystalline diamond matrix that is substantially free of graphite inclusions. The present invention also provides a method of chemical vapor deposition to prepare the films. The method of chemical vapor deposition operates at a DC bias voltage that substantially precludes the formation of a plasma ion capable of causing a region of a nano-crystalline diamond matrix within a forming film to allotrope when the plasma ion collides with the film.

  • Patent number: 7765623
Abstract: A restraint device for controlling the head of a driver during a high-performance vehicle collision. The device includes a rigid spacer positioned along the back of the driver, a tether for attaching the spacer to the driver's helmet, and an anchor strap attached at one end to the tether and at the other end to the vehicle's seat belt assembly and/or the driver's legs which serve as an anchor, opposing forward and downward movement of the driver's head during a frontal collision to reduce the likelihood of injury to the driver. During a frontal collision, deceleration forces applied to the driver's head cause the tether and anchor strap to be tensioned. As such, forces are directly transferred through the tether to the anchor strap and, ultimately, to the anchor in order to resist forward movement and downward rotation of the driver's head.

  • Patent number: 7534401
Abstract: An arcing electron stream apparatus and method for reducing pollutants in a fluid. The device includes first and second electrodes and a chamber there-between. Voltage is impressed between the electrodes at a frequency, thereby causing a plurality of arcing electron streams to occur between the electrodes. The electrodes have stepped surface such that the central first section of the electrodes are in closer proximity to each other than are the outer second sections. This stepped configuration causes arcing electron streams to progressively be formed along the electrodes and, thus, traverse throughout the chamber, thereby effectively treating molecules within the chamber.

  • Patent number: 7370903
Abstract: A transparent laminated structure having multiple peel-away laminated film layers for protecting windscreens, particularly windscreens of rotary aircraft, from environmental conditions. The laminated structure includes at least one laminated layer wherein each layer includes a film, a bonding layer on a first major side of the film for releaseably attaching the film to either the windscreen or to an adjacent laminated film layer, a conductive material on a second major side of the film for dissipating electrostatic charging in the laminated structure that may occur due to accumulated precipitation static during aircraft fight, and a hard coat layer for protecting the relatively softer film against abrasion. As the outermost film layer becomes degraded below acceptable levels, that film may be easily removed, exposing a subsequent unblemished film layer.

  • Patent number: 7081032
Abstract: A flying disc for use in recreational activities and sports, such as for catch and throw, Ultimate, disc golf, and the like. The flying disc is configured for enhanced flight characteristics, throwability, trick shot capability and durability. The flying disc includes a circular flight deck section and an outer rim connected thereto. Contoured features are provided in a pattern in the flight deck section. The contoured features define cavities in the flight deck section and protrude beneath the flight deck section. The contoured features provide a variety of gripping positions on the top and bottom of the disc for generating greater snapping force when releasing the disc. The contoured features also create a Coanda effect that stabilizes the disc during flight. And, since the contoured features are recessed from the top of the flight deck section, the advantages of flight stability are achieved without a loss of flight distance.

  • Patent number: 7055848
Abstract: A foldable trailer that is attachable to a vehicle, particularly an ATV, for hauling a load. The trailer includes a hitch assembly for attachment to the vehicle, a first bed rotatably attached to the hitch assembly, and a second bed rotatably attached to the first bed by a unique hinge. The trailer may be tightly folded to, and carried by, the ATV so that the trailer can be brought through otherwise inaccessible terrain. Moreover, when in the folded position, a rear rail of the trailer may be opened to carry articles. When the trailer is deployed, the first bed is coplanar with the second bed to provide an enlarged area for holding articles. The hinge, joining the first bed to the second bed, allows the trailer to support a significant load.
