  • Patent number: 6282631
Abstract: The present invention provides an audio signal processor and method of operation thereof that enables efficient digital signal processing. Fast multiply-accumulate (MAC) and vector processing capabilities are implemented in a RISC architecture giving the high speed capabilities of a digital signal processing system the speed and efficiency of a RISC processor.

  • Patent number: 6243757
Abstract: An efficient and scalable real-time information distribution system and method of operation thereof are provided that build customized information collections according to individual preferences. This distribution system uses an information distribution network such as the Internet for its communications infrastructure. The system of the present invention is able to achieve high scalability and efficiency by routing information through the information distribution network. Information streams enter the information distribution network through feed processors. Feed processors, in turn, parse the information received from feed sources and create a set of “keyples.” The keyples are then passed on to a series of keyple routers. The keyple routers match the keyples to a set of destinations, thus multiplexing the keyples to only those destinations that have requested the information.

  • Patent number: 6240186
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing bi-directional data transfer operations over a global computer network are provided. This is accomplished by extracting data from a database stored on a first computer system connected to the global network, transmitting the data extracted from the database to a second computer system connected to the global computer network, receiving on the first computer system data transmitted from the second computer system, and merging the data received from the second computer system into the database stored on the first computer system. These operations are performed in a substantially contemporaneous manner. Unlike prior art techniques, in which data transfers are performed in batch off-line, embodiments of the invention allow for secure data transfer operations to be performed on-line in real-time.

  • Patent number: 6233537
Abstract: A modeling system for the visual presentation of business applications (process, information, control, and channel), composed of multiple plan elements, is disclosed. The modeling system consists of a modeling language organized around a small set of defined pictograms each capable of representing elements of the application in progressively finer levels of detail. Each element primitive, be it a plan, step, data object, translation map, or control element (such as a business rule), is independently adjustable. Each element can be modified or enhanced without damage to the overall process because they are functionally decoupled and each represents a delegation of a task primitive (including data storage). All of the other, connected primitives are aware simply of what is passed into or taken out of a neighbor primitive, not how that primitive accomplishes its task.

  • Patent number: 6212524
Abstract: A method of generating a datamart is described. The datamart includes tables having rows and columns. The method comprises accessing a description of a schema. The schema defines the relationships between the tables and columns. The description further defines how data is to be manipulated and used to populate the tables in the datamart. That is, the description defines the semantic meaning of the data. The description is further used to create a set of commands to create the tables. The commands are executed causing the creation of the tables. Importantly, when the semantic meaning is associated with the column and rows, programs for manipulating and propagating data into those columns and rows are automatically defined. Previously, consultants would have to hand code the creation, manipulation, and population programs for a datamart. Thus, the amount of work required to create and populate the datamart is significantly reduced.
