  • Patent number: 6767850
Abstract: A flat textile material (10) has an upper side and an underside and is used, in particular, as a clothing fabric. For the purpose of controlling the permeability of the textile material (10), control elements (34, 36; 16, 18) are provided which are deformable by an environmental parameter. Media whose permeation is controlled thus are, for example, fluids or light. Possible environmental parameters are, for example, the temperature or the air humidity. It is thus possible to make, for example, textile materials whose breathing activity increases with the body temperature of the user.

  • Patent number: 6722591
Abstract: A high-speed rotary atomizer for applying powder coating includes a housing to the front end of which a bell disc is rotatably mounted. Bell disc is driven by a motor arranged inside housing. At least one powder supply channel passes through housing, and emerges at the front of housing. This channel contains an acceleration jet in which the coating powder particles are accelerated to a higher velocity which is maintained over at least a certain distance. The increased velocity, preferably supported by acceleration air forming a surface layer, prevents coating powder particles from being deposited on the walls of powder supply channel. In this way an insulating section is formed by which a backflash of the high voltage used to ionise the coating powder particles, from the internal electrode of the high-speed rotary atomizer towards the powder supply, is prevented.

  • Patent number: 6706117
Abstract: An installation for treating, in particular coating, articles, especially vehicle bodies, comprises at least one bath, in which a treatment liquid, in particular a paint, is located. The articles are intended to be immersed therein. A conveyor with which the articles are conveyed through the installation in a continuous or intermittent translational movement comprises a plurality of transport carriages, which run in guided manner on running surfaces. Each transport carriage comprises a separate drive for translational movement and a drive operating independently thereof for the immersion movement. The installation thus constructed is extraordinarily flexible, since the immersion movement does not have to correlate with the translational movement.

  • Patent number: 6707537
Abstract: A projection exposure system, in particular for microlithography, serves to generate an image of an object disposed in an object plane in an image plane. For this purpose, use is made of a light source emitting projection light, illumination optics disposed in the beam path between the light source and the object plane and projection optics disposed in the beam path between the object plane and the image plane. Disposed in the vicinity of a field plane of the illumination optics is at least one optical element that changes the angular illumination distribution of the projection light passing through. The change, impressed by the optical element, in the angular illumination distribution is non-rotationally symmetrical with respect to the optical axis. The optical element can be disposed in various angular positions around an axis perpendicular to the field plane. Such an optical element makes it possible to modify the symmetry of the angular illumination distribution flexibly.

  • Patent number: 6699202
Abstract: A new method and a device are disclosed to determine physiologic parameters of a subject by analyzing it's breathing gas with an electrochemical sensor. The measured components of the breathing gas allow for many conclusions about the condition of the subjects's pulmonary system. It is therefore an objective of this invention to determine physiologic parameters from measuring the partial pressure of oxygen in the mainstream of the breathing gas. According to the invention the measurement can be performed non invasive and allows for conclusions about the respiratory and metabolic system of a subject. The invention makes a continuous measurement of the oxygen partial pressure possible, that almost shows no time delay. The invention allows for instance the determination of parameters like the oxygen concentration in the breathing gas, the oxygen consumption of the subject, the heart frequency, the respiratory quotient, the compliance of the pulmonary tract and other physiologic parameters.

  • Patent number: 6679459
Abstract: The invention relates to an electric overhead conveyer comprising a large number of carriages (8), which circulate on a running rail system (1). Each carriage (8) has an autonomous carriage control (11), whose memory stores (13) all the data for the rail network. The overhead conveyer can either be operated in individual circulation mode, in which each carriage (8) attempts to travel individually at the greatest permissible speed, or in group mode. In group mode, the carriages (8), which are to traverse a common section of the rail network (1) are combined into groups and exchange data concerning the locally permissible speeds that are respectively valid. All the carriages (8) in the group then travel at a speed that corresponds to the lowest permissible speed for all carriages (8) in the group.

  • Patent number: 6676755
Abstract: Objects, (4) especially vehicle bodies (4), are guided through a painting installation comprising at least one bath (2) in a continuous translation movement, by means of a transport device (5). Immersion devices carry the objects using a carrier structure (61) which is connected to the transport device (5) in such a way that it can be pivoted by a pivoting arm (50, 51). A first drive device (54, 55, 56, 57) causes a pivoting movement of the pivoting arm (50, 51) about a first axis. A second drive device (78, 79, 80, 81) is used to pivot the carrier structure (61) about the second axis, in relation to the pivoting arm (50, 51). One such immersion device enables very different kinematics of the immersing and emerging movement to be carried out.

  • Patent number: 6678240
Abstract: In order to optimize the image properties of several optical elements of which at least one is moved relative to at least one stationary optical element, the overall image defect resulting from the interaction of all optical elements is first of all measured. This is represented as a linear combination of the base functions of an orthogonal function set. The movable element is then moved to a new measurement position and the overall image defect is measured once again. After the linear combination representation of the new overall image defect, the image defects of the movable element and of the stationary element are calculated from the data thereby obtained. With only one movable optical element a target position in which the overall image defect is minimized can be directly calculated and adjusted there from. If several movable optical elements are available, methods are given for the efficient determination of the respective target position.

  • Patent number: 6673153
Abstract: An installation for painting objects, in particular vehicle bodies, has at least one bath containing a treatment fluid in which the objects are to be immersed. The objects are guided through the installation in a continuous or intermittent translatory movement with the aid of a conveyor device. A plurality of immersion devices is provided, which support the objects with the aid of a supporting structure. The latter is connected to the conveyor device by way of a connecting structure. Each connecting structure has at least one steering linkage which in turn comprises two steering components arranged at a distance from one another. The steering components are each rotatably connected to the conveyor device at one end and rotatably connected to the supporting structure at the other end. • Patent number: 6672521
Abstract: A high-speed rotary atomizer for applying powder coating comprises in a known manner a housing (1), in which a motor (13) is accommodated. The motor (13) rotates a bell-shaped plate (16) which is disposed at the front of the housing (1). At least one powder supply duct (28, 29, 22, 23, 24, 25, 11, 12, 9, 10) leads through the housing and opens at the front of the housing (1). Its cross section can therefore be kept very large, thereby increasing the powder output of the high-speed rotary atomizer. This also enables a plurality of powder supply ducts (28, 29, 22, 23, 24, 25, 11, 12, 9, 10) to be laid, which in turn results in a higher powder throughput and improved homogeneity of the powder cloud which is produced.
