    Abstract: An acoustic inkjet printhead utilizes a pulse width modulation to control droplet size or ejection velocity. An individual control pulse controls the duration and the time a RF signal is applied to each transducer. To modify the RF signal of each transducer, the pulse width of each control signal can be modified according to a predetermined correction data. The rising edge of the control data is delayed according to the correction data while the falling edge is kept the same.

    Abstract: A highlight raster output scanner is disclosed which utilizes an amplitude modulation with its reference level being placed at its white level. Having the reference level at the white level provides the possibility of utilizing two independent power drivers to generate modulation pulses. One power driver generates color pulses (above the white level) and the second power driver generates black pulses (bellow the white level). Since an independent power driver is generating the color pulses, the color level can be raised to saturation to prevent the nonuniformity of the intensity of the light beam for color. Also, any intensity variation of the white level can be adjusted by comparing the white level against the reference level. Finally, the black level is kept at ground potential in the same manner as the prior art.

    Abstract: A reference frequency and facet to facet correction circuit utilizes a phase locked loop which includes a digital phase detector to measure the time difference between the end of scan and the end of count of each facet and store them in a lookup table. The phase locked loop continuously generates an average time value form the time differences of all the facets of the polygon. The phase locked loop also adds the errors of each facet to the average time value and uses the result to correct the frequency of a pixel clock generator for both the reference frequency and facet to facet errors.

    Abstract: There is disclosed an electrocapillary display sheet which utilizes three transparent sheets being spaced from each other and placed parallel to each other. The medial sheet has a plurality of reservoirs which are filled with a dyed or pigmented ink. Each of the reservoirs has an individually addressable voltage source to create an individual electric field. By activating each electric field, the ink from the corresponding reservoir flows out into the space between the medial sheet and one of the other two sheets in order to create a pixel. By removing the electric filed, the liquid which had created a pixel will retreat back into the reservoir.

The space between the medial sheet and one of the other sheets create a first sealed passage and the second space between the medial sheet and the other one the two other sheets create a second sealed passage. Each reservoir in each set holds a conductive clear liquid and a portion of a pigmented liquid while the rest of the pigmented liquid is located in the second passage. Each clear liquid in each reservoir has an individual electrical connection. By selectively activating each clear liquid in each reservoir of each set of reservoirs, the activated liquid of the set of reservoirs will flow into the first passage and the pigmented liquid will retract into the reservoir.
