Patent number: 4550683Abstract: An adhesive coated sheet construction adapted to be secured to a work surface for placing a predetermined design configuration thereon includes a first layer having a contact-type adhesive on a first surface thereof and a second layer which is removably affixed to the first surface of the first layer. A third layer is removably affixed to a second surface of the first layer for defining a laminated-type sheet construction. Score lines penetrating both the first and second layers define the predetermined design configuration which remains accurately positioned through retention on the third layer. Removal of selected sections of the second layer from the sheet construction enables the corresponding sections of the first layer to be adhesively secured to the work surface.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1984Date of Patent: November 5, 1985Inventor: Wallace R. Patent number: 4548569Abstract: An injection molding apparatus includes a plasticizer (A) for plasticizing plastic pellets. An accumulator head (B) includes a plasticized material receiving entrance (40) for receiving the plasticized material. A mandrel (14) is disposed centrally within the outer body such that an annular cavity (12) is defined therebetween. A ram assembly (16) is mounted in the annular cavity for longitudinally reciprocating motion therein. Reciprocation of the ram assembly urges accumulated plasticized material through a downstream die (C). The ram assembly includes an outer ram member (30), an intermediate ram member (34), and an inner ram member (36). The ram members define a first passage array (60) between the intermediate and outer ram members and a second passage array (70) between the inner and intermediate ram members.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 1984Date of Patent: October 22, 1985Assignee: Somerset Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Frank J. Patent number: 4530373Abstract: A pressure relief valve includes a valve body having an axial inlet port and a lateral outlet port, with an enlarged bore extending between such ports. A valve bonnet attached to the valve body slidably guides a poppet for movement between closed and open positions for closing and opening the inlet port. A seal ring positioned in the bore adjacent the inlet port sealingly surrounds the poppet in its closed position. The seal ring is axially compressed between a retainer ring and a backup surface, and a ring nut threaded in the bore compressively engages the retainer ring. The ring nut is located entirely on the inlet port side of the outlet port so it does not inhibit flow to the outlet port when the poppet is open. A poppet guide bore in the bonnet extends inwardly from a bonnet end surface, and a pair of concentric recesses of different diameters also extend into the bonnet from the end surface.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Nupro CompanyInventors: Carl R. Patent number: 4527319Abstract: A sleeve of plastic material from an extruder is molded by a blow molding apparatus into a tubular structure which includes two top walls longitudinally connected at base ends and apex ends. A splitting apparatus splits the longitudinally connected base ends apart to form two top walls. The top walls are oriented with their base ends upward. An extruder extrudes a flow of softened plastic which is divided by a manifold into four flows. Four applicators connected with the manifold apply beads of softened plastic along each top wall base end. A ribbed roller presses flexible strips against the plastic beads on each of the top walls. The flexible strips are fed from rolls of finite length mounted on a stand. The stand holds operating rolls and back up rolls. A splicing apparatus splices the trailing end of each operating roll with a leading end of the corresponding back up roll.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1981Date of Patent: July 9, 1985Assignee: Hancor, Inc.Inventors: Larry A. Patent number: 4527854Abstract: Method and apparatus for connecting branch circuits to cores of a live electrical cable include placing a plurality of contact pieces individually in position in a common predetermined cable cross-sectional plane. The branch circuits may be connected to the contact pieces before or after such placement. The contact pieces each have contact feet which include contact blades or like arrangements. The contact feet can be inserted into a dual trough-like spacer piece placed between the cable cores. A multi-piece clamping ring maintained in an assembled condition by tension bolts is positioned to enclose or envelop the contact pieces. During the process of tightening the tension bolts, pressure pieces exert pressure on the cable cores so that the cores are pressed against the adjacent contact pieces. This results in the contact blades penetrating the core insulation to establish physical contact with the cable.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1983Date of Patent: July 9, 1985Assignee: Preformed Line Products CompanyInventor: Theo Sprick

The central part of the fitting is twisted more closely, to resemble a wire rope, and is bent to form two-coaxial rings (18) disposed on one side of the plane of the fitting. The rings are joined by a transversally extending midportion (15), which is preferably semicircular in configuration and lies in a plane inclined to the plane of the legs (13, 14) of the fitting.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1983Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: Preformed Line Products CompanyInventor: Aristheu A. Patent number: 4520310Abstract: Circuitry for use in a voltage measurement and display device provides automatic function change for measurement of AC or DC voltages. Voltage measurement in a predetermined mode (DC, for example), is assumed. Upon detection of an input voltage component exceeding a predetermined threshold of the other mode, (AC, for example), the measurement function is changed to that other mode. Upon detection of a component in the other mode, in a range between the predetermined threshold and a second (preferably lower) threshold, an annunciator is activated to alert the user to the presence of the other mode (AC) voltage, for manual activation of a function-selecting switch if desired. Thus, in a specific embodiment, automatic function changeover is provided upon detection of AC components exceeding a predetermined threshold, along with activation of an AC annunciator.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1982Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Sycon CorporationInventors: Austin T. Patent number: 4508255Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing wheel rim blanks from flat metal strip includes a plurality of work stations through which the metal strip passes to produce a cylindrical ring having a longitudinal axis and a welded joint. The work stations include a strip feed station, a cylinder forming station, a joint orientation station, a joint welding station and finishing stations. The work stations are arranged in a generally Z-shaped configuration with end legs extending in opposite directions from opposite ends of a transverse connecting leg. The strip feed station is located along one end leg, while the finishing stations are arranged along the other end leg. The ring forming, joint orientation and joint welding stations are aligned in succession along the connecting leg. The ring members are received in upwardly open U-shaped supports at the finishing stations and are moved in arcuate paths from the welding station through the finishing stations by an overhead conveyor device.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1982Date of Patent: April 2, 1985Assignee: Th. Patent number: 4506472Abstract: A tubular member (A) defines an internal bore (10) in which an inertia assembly (B) for providing a selected inertial force is disposed. The inertia assembly includes a spring (20) and a slidable member (22). An elongated, flexible cable (C) extends from the slidable member, through the tubular member internal passage, and defines a contractible loop externally of the tubular member. Under manual urging of a handle (36) which is operatively connected with a sleeve (34), the sleeve urges the slidable member longitudinally along the tubular member internal passage extending the spring. The slidable member cams a blocking member (70) outward to allow the slidable member to move therepast. After the slidable member is moved toward the tubular member second end past the blocking member, the blocking member blocks the slidable member against return sliding movement. A trigger (78) selectively withdraws the blocking member to allow the slidable member to undergo return sliding movement rapidly contracting the cable.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1983Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Inventor: David A.
