  • Patent number: 7161651
Abstract: A method of resizing a liquid crystal display connected to at least one flex board, wherein the liquid crystal display has multiple layers including a liquid crystal layer contained between a pair of glass substrates and a pair of polarizers on opposite sides of respective ones of the glass substrates. The method comprises applying pressure sensitive tape for protecting the polarizers, dicing through the layers, including the polarizers, using a dicing wheel with predetermined diamond particle size to a specified depth and width of groove, cutting through the flex board using a UV laser, breaking off unwanted portions of the liquid crystal display and flex board defined by the dicing and cutting operations, and sealing remaining portions of the liquid crystal display.

  • Patent number: 7162112
Abstract: A method for forming a gap (16) of a width (d) which meets selected tolerance limits includes forming sidewalls (80, 82) in a microstructure, the sidewalls defining a gap (16) therebetween. The gap has a width defined between the sidewalls. The width of the gap between the sidewalls is determined. Where the determined width of the gap is below the selected tolerance limits for the width of the gap, the sidewalls are consumed to form a gap which meets the selected tolerance limits. The gap may be incorporated in a waveguide device (10) of a microswitch (100) and selectively connect input and output waveguides (130, 132).

  • Patent number: 7160069
Abstract: A hook hanger for a cargo trailer includes a body defining (i) a mounting bracket conforming in shape to and slidably engageable with an associated sliding winch track of an associated cargo trailer; (ii) a hook anchor connected to the mounting bracket; and, (iii) a wall that cooperates with the hook anchor to define a channel between the wall and the hook anchor. The channel opens in a side of the body, and the wall limits vertical movement of an associated hook connected to the hook anchor to prevent inadvertent disengagement by vertical movement of the associated hook from the hook anchor. The associated hook is disengageable from the hook anchor only by sliding movement in the channel in a direction transverse to vertical. A retaining member is optionally connected to the body and movable to a locked position where it captures the associated hook in the channel.

  • Patent number: 7158732
Abstract: A method of using toner concentration (TC) as an active actuator in the tonal reproduction curve (TRC) controller, so that not only will the TRC controller maintain the TRC of the output, but also all the electrostatic actuators will not diverge, and the toner concentration will be within the latitude range of the xerographic system. The process ensures that the target of the toner concentration (TC) sensor will be changed properly in direction (up/down) and amplitude to compensate the TRC output of the print engine based on either reflective reactance readings and/or the level of the electrostatic actuators.

  • Patent number: 7156686
Abstract: A splice connector includes a first IDC terminal, a second IDC terminal, a body receiving the first and second IDC terminals, and a cover connected to the body such that the cover selectively slides with respect to the body in the first linear direction from first position to a second position. The body defines a first seat configured to receive an associated first cable and second seat configured to receive an associated second cable that is to be electrically connected to the associated first cable. The first and second IDC terminals each include a portion that extends into a region adjacent a respective wire seat. The cover is configured to cooperate with the body where a portion of the cover engages a portion of the body at a third position between the first position and the second position such that in the third position movement of the cover with respect to the body in a second direction, which is opposite the first, is inhibited.

  • Patent number: 7157046
Abstract: A flash vaporizer (34) provides a constant flow of vaporized hydrogen peroxide or other antimicrobial compounds for rapidly sterilizing large enclosures (10), such as rooms or buildings. The vaporizer includes a heated block (50) which defines an interior bore or bores (70, 72, 74). The flowpath created by the bore or bores increases in cross sectional area as the hydrogen peroxide passes through the block to accommodate the increase in volume during the conversion from liquid to gas. The vapor is injected into dry air in a duct that circulates it to the large enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7157045
Abstract: A vaporizer (14) supplies hydrogen peroxide and water vapor to a high level disinfection or sterilization region (20). Mid-infrared light detectors (32) detect light in the mid-infrared range which has traversed a region of the treatment chamber in a first narrow spectrum centered at 8,000 nanometers which is absorbed by the hydrogen peroxide vapor, a second narrow spectrum which is absorbed by the water vapor, and a third spectrum that is absorbed by neither the hydrogen peroxide vapor nor the water vapor. From these measurements, an absorbance or transmittance is determined (40) from which the concentrations of hydrogen peroxide and water vapor are determined (42). Monitored temperature (44) and the determined concentrations are converted into a percent saturation (54). The supply of hydrogen peroxide and water vapor to the chamber is controlled (60) in accordance with the determined percent saturation.

  • Patent number: 7158048
Abstract: Apparatus for conducting geophysical surveys comprising a multiplicity of intelligent electrodes provided on a multi-conductor cable, for receiving a command signal in response to which predetermined electrodes are connected to selected conductors in the cable. Each intelligent electrode is identical in all respects, including its programming, resulting in simplified construction of the cable and easy replacement of the intelligent electrodes. Instead of assigning a unique address code to each switch in a series of take-outs on a multi-conductor cable, each electronic switch is programmed with the same address code. That is, each switch is programmed to be activated when it receives a code command that, for example, is prefaced with a particular address, e.g. the number 1. The second part of the code (y) instructs the switch as to which conductor in the multi-conductor cable is to be connected to the local electrode at the location of the switch.

Between the two bearing surfaces (36), the bearing shell (34) comprises a deformation zone (40) with a deformation element (44) . With high radial forces of the shaft occurring, the two bearing shell halves (381, 382) are slightly spread. The flexible deformation zone ensures that the two bearing shell halves remain interconnected and resist breaking in this area.
