  • Patent number: 5360399
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for carrying out the method, in which the necessary outflow of the aqueous humor which is continuously being renewed in the eye is ensured, and thus the normal intraocular pressure is maintained. For the treatment, the sclera undergoes operative lamellar incision for partial exposure of Schlemm's canal, and the portion which is opened out is held by a device which is not depicted. A medium is introduced into Schlemm's canal by a tube which is introduced into the circular canal of Schlemm by which the upstream trabecular tissue is hydraulically expanded and traumatically opened at several points and, at the same time, the points are wetted by the highly viscous medium.

  • Patent number: 5354321
Abstract: The invention refers to a patch arrangement for electric elimination of muscle spasms. The invention is based upon the object to employ electrotherapy through stable galvanization without external voltage source to attain high efficiency and to make it overall more practical. In accordance with the invention, the object is attained by arranging a plane electrode of different metals at both sides of the affected area. A further metal electrode is applied onto both of these skin contact electrodes at the other side or body-distant side thereof wherein the metals of these electrodes may correspond to those of both skin electrodes, however, with opposing polarity according to the electrochemical series. Both obtained compact bimetallic electrodes are insulated at their border against electrolytic shorting and attached to the body by means of the electrocardiographic electrode patch which is available in the medical trade.

  • Patent number: 5341856
Abstract: An arrangement for transferring bulk goods from ships into silos by means of suction and pressure conveyance. The arrangement includes a suction conveying line with suction nozzle to be placed in the ship and leading to a lock-type receiving container. A pressure-conveying line leads from the container to the silo. A screw-type pump is provided at the bottom of the container for continuously feeding the material to the pressure conveying line. The material travels through the container by gravity. The receiving container includes container segments which are arranged so as to be telescopically extendable. All components of the arrangement are mounted on a road-travelling vehicle. During operation, the segments of the container are extended. During travel, the container segments are slid into each other.

  • Patent number: 5340046
Abstract: An energy converter comprises a sleeve with a sleeve channel. A longitudinal groove is configured in the wall of the sleeve channel. A shank of a bolt is introduced into the sleeve channel. An L-shaped deformation member having an arresting leg is introduced into a lateral bore of the bolt shank, wherein then the sleeve leg comes to rest in the longitudinal groove of the sleeve and at the outer surface of the bolt shank. The sleeve and the bolt are thus secured against rotation. The bolt has a hexagonal bolt head, which can be positionally fixed in a matchingly configured aperture in the cheek of the belt fitting. If a predetermined force F acts upon the belt band, the sleeve and the bolt turn relative to one another and the deformation member pulls out of the longitudinal groove while rolling around the bolt shank.

  • Patent number: 5330848
Abstract: A resonator body for musical drum instruments is formed by shaping and gluing together several superimposed material layers, particularly wood veneer layers or plywood layers. The resonator body has the shape of a hollow cylinder. Abutting edges of the individual material layers extend in the direction of the resonator body axis and the abutting edges of the individual material layers are offset relative to each other in circumferential direction of the hollow cylinder. In order to ensure that the abutting edges are permanently and securely held together, the abutting edges of at least the outer material layer, preferably of all material layers, have contours which are toothed and complementary relative to each other and inter-engage in circumferential direction of the hollow cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5327950
Abstract: Apparatus for filling valve sacks includes at least one filling pipe in fluid communication with a feed unit and receiving a valved sack. The filling pipe is provided with least one axial slot-like recess which is engageable by a clamping lever after a valve sack is placed over the outlet port of the filling pipe so as to apply a tension force onto the valve of the sack. In this manner, the valve of the sack is pushed into the recess and drawn against the outer surface of the filling pipe to attain a sealing action which is maintained even when pressure causes a widening of the valve because the clamping lever is then further lowered.
