Abstract: The technology disclosed herein provides a device, system, and method for weaning a child off a sucking device, such as a pacifier, by introducing a series of sucking devices with successively smaller nubs. A child is given a first sucking device having a nub of a certain size, and, after a time period, the child is given a second sucking device having a nub smaller than that of the first sucking device. This method may be repeated in multiple iterations, until the child is weaned off sucking devices.

Abstract: The disclosed technology comprises a device and a method for accurately determining the amount of electrical energy utilized in a circuit with a quarter-cycle transformer and transducers operating off quarter-cycle power. The method allows for a primary power meter associated with an entity which provides a power source to remain in operation, without modification, and for a second power meter to be utilized which accurately measures consumption of quarter-cycle power usage. An adjustment to an invoice can then be made, based on the difference.

Abstract: A cylindrical puzzle mechanism comprising a central shaft member, with at least two wheels mounted on the shaft member, and a plurality of puzzle components disposed along the outer circumference of each wheel. Each of the wheels is independently rotatable about the shaft member. A cylindrical frame is positioned concentrically around the wheels. The frame is rotatable about the wheels and shiftable along the axial direction of the shaft member. The frame comprises at least one driving element at each longitudinal end for shifting a longitudinally aligned row of puzzle components along an axial direction. Two rotatable stoppers for preventing each of the wheels from shifting axially along the shaft, is mounted on the shaft. The stoppers comprise at least one track for receiving a puzzle component thereon. A cap at each end of the shaft member prevents the stoppers from shifting axially along the shaft and for regulating the axial movement of the cylindrical frame.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein allow a worker to use tools similar to that of an employer or payroll provider to determine, after having been paid, if the number of hours compensated for, is correct. At a first stage, a time sheet is provided for a worker in a specific industry to input a work history for the pay period. In a second stage, data from an actual pay stub is received from the worker, including hours paid and associated codes. Codes of the work hours and/or provided on the pay stub may be reconciled or used as needed, and a comparison is made to determine if the hours of the pay stub are accurate. If not, than a tool is provided to the user to petition the employer for correction.

Abstract: A computer system is disclosed herein that surveys numerous legal documents which memorialize business or legal transactions and then determines common provisions in such documents. The forms of these “core provisions” are then stored in a knowledge base of the system. The system then allows attorney users to apply the system to analyze unsurveyed documents and use the knowledge base to recognize the core provisions that are most similar to the text of these unsurveyed documents. The user can then edit these unsurveyed documents in a rapid accurate fashion by automated means to revise text to match these core provisions. Document editing functionality is also present, along with means to use correlations to determine the likelihood of the presence/absence of specific provisions and the presence/absence of various particular documents in groups of documents used to memorialize certain types of transactions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed technology provide a system and method for electronic lottery and or online gaming bet placement and management employing Radio Frequency Identification technology. The system and method both employ use of a plurality of passive RFID tags. Each tag comprises stored data. The data may include a read-only memory area and a writable memory area. The system and method also utilize a data storage medium under the operative control of a lottery/gaming administrator. The data storage medium contains data associated with a plurality of gambling accounts. The data may include personal information and payout information. Each gambling account is associated with at least one RFID tag via the unique read-only tag number stored therein.

Abstract: A U-shaped connector (10) for connecting together abutting or adjoining timber elements includes a stem portion extending between two kinked spike portions (14,16) with each spike portion (14,16) extending in a common direction from the stem portion. Each kinked spike portion (14,16) is comprised of four straight portions (15,18,20,22 and 17,19,21,23) of equal length joined end-to-end, with each straight portion extending at an angle to its adjacent portion. Distal ends (24,25) of each tip portion (22,23) are sharpened and splayed wider than the stem portion. On installation, the flexibility of connector (10) is sufficient to provide a compressive force to the abutting faces of the timbers being joined with the kinked spike portions (14,16) moving outwards away from each other so as to increase the connector's pull out resistance.

Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosed technology are designed for creation of a photographic image comprising an upper and lower portion from two rolls of film whereby the picture is created by simultaneous exposure within a single camera housing, or emulation thereof. This is accomplished in one embodiment by wrapping two rolls of film around a spool, one above the other, such that the rolls pull off the reel in parallel and onto a single take-up spool. Thus, when the shutter opens, both rolls of film are simultaneously exposed, and an image forms half on one and half on the other. In another embodiment, a camera comprises two film chambers (which may be a single chamber with divider adapting the chamber to hold two rolls of film), one above the other, and a roll is loaded into each film chamber. Embodiments may be used to breathe new life into discontinued film formats, such as 70 mm film cameras by using two 35 mm rolls of film.
