Abstract: A Computer and/or Peripheral Networking Device, requiring Shielded Twisted Pair cabling and using a standard Buffer Insertion-based implementation, that allows Buffer Insertion-based devices to utilize the most commonly installed Unshielded Twisted Pair cabling, and to provide, when needed, a bypass mechanism that ensures that a node connected in a string of standard Buffer Insertion-based devices will not isolate, or otherwise disable other nodes if it goes off-line for any reason.
