  • Patent number: 7279560
Abstract: Novel cell surface molecules recognized by monoclonal antibodies against a cell surface molecule of lymphocytic cells that play an important role in autoimmune diseases and allergic diseases have been isolated, identified, and analyzed for their functions. The cell surface molecules are expressed specifically in thymocytes, lymphocytes activated by ConA-stimulation, and peripheral blood lymphocytes, and induce cell adhesion. Antibodies against the cell surface molecules significantly ameliorate pathological conditions of autoimmune diseases and allergic diseases.

  • Patent number: 7280707
Abstract: Images may be registered using temporal (time-based) and spatial information. In a film implementation, because film is a sequence of frames, using information from neighboring frames may enable a temporally smoother visual experience. In addition, it may be beneficial to take advantage of the fact that consecutive frames are often shifted similarly during the photographic process. Distortion measures may be used that discount candidate transformations that are considered to be too far from one or more preferred transformations, such as, for example, an optimal transformation from another frame or block or a currently-optimal transformation from the same frame/block. Composite color images may be processed to provide registration of underlying components.

  • Patent number: 7281218
Abstract: A target audience for a marketing campaign is selected using a graphical user interface. A first graphical representation of a customer data attribute is dragged from a first window and dropped in a second window. A second graphical representation of a customer data attribute is dragged near the graphical representation of an initial profile that is created in the second window in response to the dropping of the first graphical representation. The second graphical representation is dropped in an action area presented when the second graphical representation is dragged near the graphical representation of the initial profile.

  • Patent number: 7279768
Abstract: In a semiconductor device of the present invention, an N-type buried diffusion layer is formed across a substrate and an epitaxial layer. A P-type buried diffusion layer is formed across an upper surface of the N-type buried diffusion layer over a wide range to form a PN junction region for an overvoltage protection. A P-type diffusion region is formed so as to be connected to the P-type buried diffusion layer. A breakdown voltage of the PN junction region is lower than a breakdown voltage between a source and a drain. This structure makes it possible to prevent a concentration of a breakdown current and protect the semiconductor device from an overvoltage.

  • Patent number: 7279293
Abstract: Internal domain 3 of seven transmembrane G protein-coupled receptors is important for G protein binding or receptor activity, and is well conserved. In H3 receptors, which are a type of G protein-coupled receptor, this region is also conserved in the same way. Therefore, as a result of using PCR to introduce point mutations into sequences encoding the region in H3 receptor cDNA, H3 receptor mutants comprising extremely strong constitutive activity could be successfully produced. The present inventors further found that by using constitutively active H3 receptor mutants, drug candidate compounds such as H3 receptor inverse agonists can be screened more easily and efficiently.

  • Patent number: 7281187
Abstract: A method of operating in a network in which a plurality of stations communicate over a shared medium. The method comprises transmitting a group of bits from a transmitting station to a receiving station, wherein the group of bits comprises information bits and error checking bits, and communicating additional bits from the transmitting station to the receiving station without transmitting the additional bits. Communicating the additional bits comprises, at the transmitting station, deriving the error checking bits from the additional bits using an error checking process; and at the receiving station, using the same or a related error checking process to process candidate bits known to the receiving station, and comparing the output of the error checking process to the error checking bits received from the transmitting station to determine if the candidate bits correspond to the additional bits.

  • Patent number: 7281053
Abstract: Latency in a real-time electronic communication is dynamically managed. A communication delay arising from a receiving data buffer is measured and a latency adjustment necessary to adjust the size of the communication delay to within a predetermined range and an optimal range for a size of the communication delay are determined. Using these parameters, the number of samples for an audio playback data block passing through the receiving data buffer is modified.
