Abstract: Predictive modeling, in which a first simulation model that simulates a first policy for managing a set of data is determined based on a pattern representative of the set of data and first operating variables for the first policy. The first simulation model is optimized and first prediction data that estimates performance of the first policy is computed using the optimized first simulation model. A second simulation model that simulates a second policy for managing the set of data is determined based on the pattern and second operating variables for the second policy. The second simulation model is optimized and second prediction data that estimates performance of the second policy is computed using the optimized second simulation model. The first prediction data is compared with the second prediction data, and a determination of whether the first policy is better than the second policy is made.
Abstract: Simulating a physical process includes storing, in a computer-accessible memory, state vectors for voxels, where the state vectors correspond to a model and include entries that correspond to particular momentum states of possible momentum states at a voxel. Interaction operations are performed on the state vectors. The interaction operations model interactions between elements of different momentum states according to the model. Move operations performed on the state vectors reflect movement of elements to new voxels according to the model. The model is adapted to simulate a high-Knudsen number flow that has a Knudsen number greater than 0.1.

Abstract: A vital sign measurement device includes a sensor fixation device, an optical sensing system, and an output unit. The sensor fixation device is adapted to be placed against an anatomical location of a subject, within which is an artery. The optical sensing system includes an optical source device and an optical detector, both of which are held by the sensor fixation device and move with movement of the sensor fixation device. The optical source device is configured to produce a speckle pattern output. The optical detector is positioned to detect at least a portion of the speckle pattern output and generate therefrom the detected portion of the speckle pattern output. The optical sensing system can sense an arterial pulse from the movement, bending, or compression of at least one portion of the optical sensing system relative to other portions of the optical sensing system resulting in a change in the optical signal received within the detected portion of the speckle pattern output.
Abstract: A first pulsed beam of charged particles from a particle accelerator is accelerated toward a first target that is configured to emit a fast neutron beam in response to being struck by an accelerated particle such that the fast neutron beam is directed toward a physical region. The last neutron beam includes a neutron having an energy sufficient to cause fission in a fissionable material. Data from a sensor configured to detect radiation of a fission product is accessed, and before accelerating a second pulsed beam of charged particles, whether the physical region includes a fissionable material based on the data from the sensor is determined.

Abstract: An enhanced data conversion framework, in which a data record in each of first and second data sources is populated with manually selected, representative sample data, the first and second data sources using different data storage schemas to store the representative sample data as instance values of instance elements. Parameters for a CONCATENATE function or an EXTRACT function are automatically determined based on a selected succession graph, and non-sample data is converted between the different data storage schemas of the first and second data sources, using the CONCATENATE function or the EXTRACT function.
Abstract: Assets of raw geo-located imagery can be divided into tiles and coverage masks can be generated for each tile. For each tile, fragments of pixels from coverage masks of neighboring tiles can be extracted and tagged. The fragments can be sorted and stored in a data structure so that fragments having the same tag can be grouped together in the data structure. The fragments can be used to feather the coverage mask of the tile to produce a blend mask. Multi-resolution imagery and mask pyramids can be generated by extracting fragments from tiles and minified (e.g., down-sampled). The minified fragments can be tagged (e.g., by ancestor tile name), sorted and stored in a data structure, so that fragments having like tags can be stored together in the data structure. The fragments can be assembled into fully minified tiles for each level in the pyramid. Input tiles in a first projection are re-projected into a second projection using techniques that minimize distortion in the re-projected imagery.
