  • Patent number: 6859799
Abstract: A method of selecting graphic or video files having corresponding locators used to locate such graphic or video files using a computer. Identifiers are created by searching an area within a web page near a graphic or video file for searchable identification terms and searching an area within a web page near links to a graphic or video for searchable identification terms. The identifiers are stored in a database. User requests for graphic or video file content are received and the database of identifiers is searched to find graphic and video files corresponding criteria of the user. Graphic or video file content is then provided to the user.

  • Patent number: 6855572
Abstract: Systems and methods for packaging integrated circuit chips in castellation wafer level packaging are provided. The active circuit areas of the chips are coupled to castellation blocks and, depending on the embodiment, input/output pads. The castellation blocks and input/output pads are encapsulated and held in place by an encapsulant. When the devices are being fabricated, the castellation blocks and input/output pads are sawed through. If necessary, the wafer portion on which the devices are fabricated may be thinned. The packages may be used as a leadless chip carrier package or may be stacked on top of one another. When stacked, the respective contacts of the packages are preferably coupled. Data may be written to, and received from, packaged chips when a chip is activated. Chips may be activated by applying the appropriate signal or signals to the appropriate contact or contacts.

  • Patent number: 6857043
Abstract: First-in/first-out (“FIFO”) memory circuitry includes first and second Gray-code-based counters for respectively counting write and read clock signals. A Gray code subtractor subtracts from one another the counts output by the counters. Shift register circuitry shifts in successive data words in synchronism with the write clock signal. The shift register circuitry includes selection circuitry configured to select one of the data words based on a Gray code decoding of information from the subtractor. Circuitry may also be included to monitor the information from the subtractor to detect full or empty conditions of the shift register circuitry.

  • Patent number: 6854044
Abstract: Circuitry for locating the boundaries between bytes in a data stream is only selectively enabled to find a possible new byte alignment by a control signal. After the byte alignment circuitry has found a byte alignment, it outputs byte-aligned data and a first status signal indicating the presence of such data. If the byte alignment circuitry subsequently detects information that suggests a possible need for a new or changed byte alignment, it outputs a second status signal to that effect. However, the byte alignment circuitry does not actually attempt to change its byte alignment until enabled to do so by the control signal. Programmable logic circuitry or other utilization circuitry is typically provided to receive the outputs of the byte alignment circuitry and to selectively provide the control signal.

  • Patent number: 6853565
Abstract: Feedback circuits capable of preventing output voltage overshoot in closed-loop DC regulated power supplies are presented. The circuits employ hysteresis at the input of an operational amplifier to improve the response time of the feedback circuits to a rising output voltage reaching a threshold. The feedback circuits substantially reduce, if not prevent, output voltage overshoot during start-up and hard and soft output shorts.

  • Patent number: 6850159
Abstract: Occupancy sensors are provided that do not require an external power source in order to operate. The sensors operate with a low voltage non-rechargeable battery and are fully functional for at least about 15-20 years. The sensors include a relay output capable of switching high or low voltage and high or low current with virtually no generated heat. The sensors require no warm-up period, no minimum load, and no external ground connection. The sensors are always active and are easily installed, having two electrically interchangeable outputs for coupling to, for example, a load and a load power source.

  • Patent number: 6848479
Abstract: The present invention concerns improved methods and apparatus for forming undulated wire coils that are placed into the cores of dynamo electric machine components. In particular, the invention concerns improved methods and apparatus for controlling the direction of deposit (along the axis about which the coil is wound) for the turns of a wire coil and for positioning the leads of the coil. This is accomplished by forming a series of wire coils using a programmable apparatus that controls a sequence of directions (along the coil axis) in which the wire turns are deposited, as well as positions of the final leads. The same methods and apparatus may also be used to form continuously wound wire portions.

  • Patent number: 6849716
Abstract: The invention relates to methods for designing inhibitors of serine/threonine kinases and tyrosine kinases, particularly MAP kinases, through the use of ATP-binding site mutants of those kinases. The methods of this invention take advantage of the fact that the mutant kinases are capable of binding inhibitory compounds of other kinases with greater affinity than the corresponding wild-type kinase. The invention further relates to the mutant kinases themselves and crystallizable co-complexes of the mutant kinase and the inhibitory compound.

  • Patent number: 6847245
Abstract: A high-speed, current-driven latch is provided. The latch conducts a current and includes an output, a SET circuit and a RESET circuit. The output is variable between a first state and a second state. The SET circuit conducts the current present in the latch at the first state such that the SET circuit is maintained close to a level required to change the output of the transistor from the first to the second level, and the RESET circuit conducts the current at the second level such that the RESET circuit is close to a level required to change the output of the transistor from the second level to the first level.

  • Patent number: 6844260
Abstract: Systems and methods for insitu post atomic layer deposition (ALD) destruction of active species are provided. ALD processes deposit multiple atomic layers on a substrate. Pre-cursor gases typically enter a reactor and react with the substrate resulting in a monolayer of atoms. After the remaining gas is purged from the reactor, a second pre-cursor gas enters the reactor and the process is repeated. The active species of some pre-cursor gases do not readily purge from the reactor, thus increasing purge time and decreasing throughput. A high-temperature surface placed in the reactor downstream from the substrate substantially destroys the active species insitu. Substantially destroying the active species allows the reactor to be readily purged, increasing throughput.

  • Patent number: 6844122
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods for imprinting solid particles onto materials that enhance the performance characteristics, such as the odor adsorption capacity, of the material. The present invention uses a xerographic imprinting method to apply a toner formulation to the material. The toner formulation typically includes solid particles (e.g., activated carbon), binding agents, and additives. Using this method, a specific pattern can be imprinted onto the material. The present invention can also use a Gravure method to imprint performance enhancing solid particles onto a material. This method advantageously provides precise control over the volume of mixture (e.g., solid particles and binding agent) impressed onto the material. In addition, this method can imprint specific patterns of mixture onto the material.

  • Patent number: 6844706
Abstract: The present invention relates to variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) devices and methods for maximizing engine generator efficiency. In one embodiment, a VSCF device may include at least two paths for conducting power to the load. One path, a line inductor path, may advantageously incur minimal power loss when the engine generator is supplying rated power to a load. A second path, a VSCF path, may be used to ensure that the frequency of the power is maintained at a substantially constant frequency under various load conditions. Another embodiment of the invention describes a process for determining optimal engine generator speed for a particular load. Because engine speed can be varied using any VSCF device, this process determines a speed that minimizes fuel consumption, emissions, and noise pollution for a given load.

  • Patent number: 6839983
Abstract: A heating oven for use in dynamo-electric machine component manufacture is provided. The oven uses forced air heating to raise the temperature of in-process component subassemblies to suitable process temperatures. The heating oven includes a rotating drum mounted in a cabinet. A number of open-ended tubular cradles are disposed in circular arrays between the drum faces. Batches of component subassemblies may be individually loaded into the cradles for heat treatment. Air flow channels are set up in the oven cabinet to evenly distribute heated air through individual cradles. Heated air after passing over the individual in-process subassemblies, exits the cradles through side slots in the cradle walls into the interior of the drum. The exiting air is reheated and recirculated through the heating oven.
