Abstract: A click-action membrane switch unit comprises a flexible base film having two surfaces, flexible circuits formed on at least one of the two surfaces of the base film and having interdigitating electrode contacts, a resist film formed on the flexible circuits and having a window in the region of the electrode contacts, a dome-shaped click spring made of electrically conducting material and having an edge placed on the circuits, and a layer fixed to the other surface of the base film and having an opening formed in the portion of the layer which aligns with the click spring.
Abstract: A semiconductor laser HL has an external resonator including a reflector R which reflects the emitted laser beam back into the front facet of the laser. The light emitted from the rear facet of the laser falls on a photodiode PD which generates a signal s which is evaluated by an evaluation unit AE. By differentiation or other processing of the shapes of pulses in the signal s, it is possible to determine the direction of change of any of several operating parameters of the laser system, such as the length L between laser HL and reflector R, the tilt angle of reflector R with respect to the optical axis of the laser or the refractive index n of the medium in the space N defined between the laser and the reflector. For example, one can detect when gas G is fed into space N to change the medium from ordinary air to carbon dioxide, or the reverse.
Abstract: A process for continuously producing a styrene-based polymer having high syndiotactic configuration which comprises continuously introducing a styrene-based monomer into a reactor and polymerizing to while adjusting the amount of the polymer produced in the reactor to at least 10% by weight of the total amount of the unreacted styrene-based monomer and the polymer.According to the present invention, the styrene-based polymer with high syndiotactic configuration is effectively produced with small power consumption.

Abstract: Disclosed are a crystalline complex compound of a propargyl alcohol represented by Formula (I): ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 represents a substituent which is different from each otherand a tertiary diamine represented by Formula (II): ##STR2## wherein A represents a group having two carbon atoms as a chain member which may be branched; each of R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 may be the same or different and represents an aralkyl group or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and A, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 may be bonded to each other, and a process of separation and purification of the propargyl alcohol using the crystalline complex compound described above.
Abstract: An orthodontic face bow for applying at least extrusion and/or intrusion forces to teeth in a controlled and reliable manner comprises an inner bow member having first and second ends to be coupled to respective teeth in the mouth; and an outer bow member coupled to the inner bow member at a substantially central portion thereof, the inner and outer bow members being rotatable relative to each other. A resilient biassing means is coupled between the inner and outer bow members for resiliently biassing one of the bow members relative to the other to cause one of the bow members to rotate relative to the other to apply at least one of the aforementioned extrusion and intrusion forces to the teeth to which the inner bow member is coupled. Also disclosed is an arrangement in which the inner and outer bow members are both mounted intra-oral and further arrangements which limit the amount of rotation of one of the bow members relative to the other.
