Abstract: A fire protection sprinkler head arrangement comprises a flange attached to a bracket on the sprinkler body by boss and shoulder joints, e.g., bayonet joints. The flange serves as a brace preventing sagging of ceiling tile and unwanted retraction of the sprinkler head rearwardly with respect to the ceiling or a sidewall. One embodiment of the flange is adjustable axially relative to the sprinkler body by an upwardly directed series of shoulder joints into which the boss is selectively fitted to conform to a particular ceiling or wall structure and feeder pipe system.

Abstract: A screed support and method for screeding cement comprises digging a plurality of arranged holes in the bed surface of the area to be cemented. Unsolidified cement is poured into each of the holes, a hollow sleeve is inserted into the wet cement and positioned therein in a substantially vertical orientation, and the cement is cured to a solidified state. A rail support member having a threaded rod and a mating, adjustable collar, is telescopically inserted into each of the sleeves. Screed support rails are connected with each rod, and the elevation and inclination of the same is adjusted in infinitely small increments by manipulating each collar in accordance with the desired, predetermined requirements. Additional unsolidified cement is then poured between the rails, and a self-propelled screeding machine is passed thereover to smoothen and level the uneven free surface of the additional cement.

Abstract: A liner for concrete forms and method for making poured concrete walls comprises a liner body constructed of insulative material and shaped for positioning between a pair of interconnected form panels. The liner body has opposing sides, one of which is positioned abutting an interior surface of a first one of the panels. The other side of the liner body as a textured, decorative surface spaced from the other panels, and is contoured for molding concrete poured therebetween. A plurality of similarly shaped liner bodies are placed in a side-by-side relationship along the interior surface of each section of form panels, with the textured surface of each oriented inwardly. Unsolidified cementitous material, such as concrete, is poured into the cavity having a single insert therein or formed between opposing inserts, and is cured to a solidified state.

Abstract: A stair nosing structure for stair steps comprises an elongated, substantially rigid base member having an interlocking portion and a channel portion positioned along opposing longitudinal edges thereof. An elongated tread member overlies and is supported by the base member, and includes a portion matingly engaging the base member interlocking portion, and a depending rib having opposed sides thereof positioned between the faces of the channel portion. A plurality of fastening clips are disposed in the channel portion of the base member and are regularly spaced therealong. Each of the clips has a rigidly resilient body with a first portion thereof connected with one of the channel faces, and a second portion thereof frictionally engaging one of the rib sides, and securely interconnects the base and tread members.

Abstract: A locking device having portions engageable with a movable member for retaining same in a selected position relative to a stationary support member. The locking device includes a body member mounted on the stationary member and a plunger within the body member and having one end portion thereof movable into and out of a selected one of a plurality of sockets in the movable member in response to movement of a cam follower on the plunger along a cam surface on the body member. Movement of the cam follower is effected by a handle in engagement with the cam follower and cooperating portions on the cam and lock structure retains the plunger at an end of its travel until relative movement is positively effected.

Abstract: A drill attachment for converting rotary motion of a drill chuck into reciprocatory motion includes a tool support member movable longitudinally along a guide bracket and having one surface with a plurality of cam surfaces thereon so that the movement thereof is in response to rotation of an elongated shaft having one end portion thereof received in the drill chuck and an enlarged portion on the other end of the shaft with a plurality of cam surfaces thereon and in engagement with the cam surfaces on the one surface of the tool support member. The cam surfaces on the tool support member and the cam surfaces on the enlarged portion of the shaft are resiliently retained in engagement one with the other.

Abstract: A peg board game apparatus is self-supporting in use and self contained in storage and includes a hinged, multi-sectional peg board and a plurality of toe tabs or game pieces, each having an oblong, planar base with a peg receiving aperture therein and a planar grip, suitable for toe gripping by a child. The toe tabs and peg board faces are contrasting colors, and the tabs and pegs are labeled by sequential indicia. Rules are provided for playing games involving manipulation of the toe tabs about the pegs by gripping the tabs with the toes.

Abstract: A detachable fluid coupling for fluid hoses or conduits used in pneumatic or hydraulic systems, such as between tractors and towed equipment, such as implements or trailers, includes a retaining mechanism with one portion having a connector releasably engageable with a member or device holding or connected to a pair of such fluid conduits from the towed equipment for retaining coupling portions thereof in position respectively received and coupled to a pair of members or coupling parts operatively connected to a respective pair of fluid conduits of a fluid pressure system, such as from a tractor. The fluid coupling includes a ramp positioned to be engaged by one end of a trip member pivotable about a pin to thereby move another end of the trip member into engagement with said one portion and move the connector portion thereof out of engagement with the holding device in response to separation of the towing connection and relative separation of the tractor and towed equipment.

Abstract: A receptacle transporting vehicle adapted to carry an open-top receptacle, such as a slag pot, includes an upper or scull frame adapted to retain and support the receptacle thereon and a dumping frame positioned between the scull frame and a mobile main frame. The scull frame and the dumping frame are each pivotally mounted on the main frame and respective extensible members effect movement of the scull frame and the dumping frame and thereby movement of the receptacle to a position for discharging the contents thereof. The scull frame has hook portions and movable keeper members engageable with respective trunnion portions of the receptacle for retaining the receptacle in supported engagement during transportation and the discharging of the contents thereof.

Abstract: An article of statuary and a decorative surface finish therefor comprises a shaped body having an outer surface, and a thin wall constructed of a ferrous metal. A plurality of brass nodules are brazed to selected portions of the outer surface in an irregular manner, and are shaped to form a rough finished surface. The remainder of the outer surface is provided with spaced, flame scorched regions, each having a variegated coloration to produce a patina effect.

Abstract: A screw locking arrangement comprises an article having a threaded aperture with an enlarged counterbore. A slot is positioned in the side wall of the counterbore and extends through the top surface of the article. A screw is threadedly engaged in the aperture and includes an enlarged head with a slot disposed in the outer marginal surface thereof. A deformable lock member is positioned in the counterbore and has a wall between the counterbore side wall and the marginal surface of the screwhead, and the wall is bent by a suitable tool into both of the slots, thereby positively locking the screw and the article together without indexing the same.

Abstract: A fuel saving apparatus for controlling the supply of fuel to one or more selected cylinders of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine comprises a remotely and independently controlled fuel saving valve operably positioned to provide selective communication between the cylinder clearance volume and a reservoir volume disposed externally thereof. The valve is closed for normal, full power engine operation, and is opened for predetermined low engine power demand periods. The opening of said valve so severely reduces cylinder intake vacuum and resultant air-fuel influx as to render temporarily ineffective the cylinder, thereby reducing engine fuel consumption.

Abstract: A wall protection assembly, for protecting an outwardly projecting corner of a building wall, includes a rigid base member having angularly disposed walls, each terminating in an outwardly extending abutment flange. The corner guard includes a semi-resilient guard member having a wall portion thereof, the wall portion having an inwardly extending flange on each side thereof for engaging the respective abutment flanges on the base member. The base member and guard member have interengaging portions adjacent the side thereof to retain the guard member on the base member with the guard member flanges engaging the abutment flanges of the base member. The abutment flanges contain any displacement or expansion of the guard member resulting from an impact thereto.

Abstract: An adjustable threshold assembly includes a base member having a central groove for receiving an inverted U-shaped channel threshold member, which is supported by a plurality of wedge sets spaced at regular intervals and each consisting of a fixed bottom wedge and a top wedge removably fastened to the web of the threshold member by passage of a screw through a slot in the web. Height adjustment is provided by lateral translation of the top wedges in cooperation with the corresponding fixed bottom wedge. The threshold member includes a resilient door engaging cushion strip overlying the web and covering the screws and slots therein.

Abstract: A safety pressure relief device of the rupture disc type includes a molded body rupture disc protected on surfaces exposed to a process line by combining with a protective liner or boot to prevent corrosion and inhibit temperature deterioration of the disc body, binder therein and/or leakage of materials therethrough. The liner, in one form, embraces the otherwise exposed surfaces of the rupture disc in absence of trapped air which is removed when the liner is engaged therewith. An alternate embodiment of the liner employs corrugated sides which flexibly and extendibly conform.

Abstract: A mold for forming a plastic article having an undercut or negative draft portion adjacent a narrow wall spacing, such as a card rack, wherein the hollow projection extends outwardly from an article wall which is substantially normal to a rear wall of the article so that the projection and the rear wall are in facing relation. The mold is particularly adapted for vacuum forming an article and includes a mold member that may be heated and cooled to form and release a plastic article and a frame for holding peripheral edges of a plastic sheet in overlying relation with the mold and a heater for heating the plastic sheet for vacuum forming to the shape of the mold.

Abstract: A mop is comprised of several thin rectangular layers of cellulose sponge cloth cut longitudinally into long strips, retaining an uncut undulated center section which is attached to a mop handle to form the completed assembly. The strips tend to lie flat on the floor during use, increasing cleaning efficiency.

Abstract: A harvesting attachment for use in combination with a combine is particularly adapted for harvesting row-crops, such as beans and the like, and is adapted for mounting a plurality of same in spaced apart relation across the forward portion of a combine trough to accomodate the row spacing. The attachment is arranged for driving from the combine and includes a sickle bar mounted on a leading side of a lower portion of a housing and an endless conveyor extending from adjacent the sickel bar to adjacent a trailing side of the housing for moving vegetation into a forward portion of the combine. The row-crop harvesting attachment includes a reel mounted on the housing and positioned above and forwardly of the sickle bar and including a plurality of circumferentially spaced pick-up tines engageable with vegetation for moving same toward the sickle bar.

Abstract: An aquarium having an aquarium bed, such as gravel, within an aquarium tank defined by a bottom wall and side and end walls and a drain and filter structure therefor. The aquarium includes means for continuous filtration and aeration and including air moving means. The aquarium drain and filter structure includes the bed and sub-bed filter means including a support member within the aquarium tank and positioned to define a lower water receiving compartment having communication with a drain and to provide a support for a plurality of drain members each having a flow passage therethrough. A foraminous member is in overlying relation with the drain members and supports the aquarium bed thereon. The structure also includes a power filter, controls, and ducts for selectively moving water and debris from the lower water receiving compartment and through the filter all being operative to remove debris therefrom and to return filtered water to the aquarium tank.

Abstract: A cover and safety closure structure for a container having a flowable material therein includes a cap member integral with or mounted on the container and having a material dispensing aperture in a top wall of the cap member. A closure member is hingedly mounted on the cap member and is movable between an open position and a position in covering relation with and closing the material dispensing aperture. A latch member extends from the closure member and the latch member and the cap member have cooperative portions engageable one with the other for retaining the closure member in covering relation with and closing the material dispensing aperture. The cover and closure structure includes a resilient member or members mounted on one of the cap member and the closure member and engageable with the other of the cap member and closure member for urging the cooperative portions of the latch member and cap member into retaning engagement.
