The side walls include a seat portion disposed adjacent to an upper free edge thereof and having a smooth, frusto-pyrmidal surface adapted for forming a tapered seal. A removable snap-fitting lid closes the receptacle opening and forms a first airtight seal for the container. A seal plug having a smooth frusto-pyrmidal surface is pressed wedgingly into the seat portion and the cooperating frusto-pyrmidal surfaces of the seat portion and seal plug engage each other thereby forming a second container seal therebetween. The lid detachably retains the seal plug and the receptacle in a sealed position and the seal plug is provided with a recessed inner body portion whereby the seal plug when separated from the remainder of the container forms a bowl particularly adapted for serving therein the container's contents.

  • Patent number: 4042045
Abstract: In an earth working implement having a wing frame which is rearwardly foldable, and with elongated, flexible cables which extend rearwardly and outwardly from a main frame of the implement to the outer ends of the wing frame, apparatus is provided for preventing slackening of the flexible cables when the wing frame is folded from an operating configuration to a transporting configuration, or vice versa. The flexible cables are thus kept from sagging to the ground and tangling during folding and unfolding of the implement. One end of each of the cables is attached to the outer end of an arm member, with the inner end of the arm members being pivotally attached to the main frame for back and forth pivoting of the arms. When the wing frame is in the operating configuration, the arm members are folded forwardly and inwardly and the outer ends thereof are latched by a yoke pivotally attached to the main frame.

  • Patent number: 4040643
Abstract: A load carrying vehicle such as a grain cart, or the like, and an adjustable axle assembly therefor for selectively changing the spacing of wheels mounted on the axle. The adjustable axle comprises two non-circular end members, and a connector or intermediate member which adjustably attaches the end members to the vehicle frame. The end members each have a shaft or axle attached at one end thereof for rotatably supporting a wheel. The intermediate member has two elongate portions, one of which is fixed to the vehicle and with each having a transversely diverging mid portion to fit and engage the end portions. The intermediate portions when engaged with the end members have side portions spaced apart so when pulled together they clamp the exterior shape of the end members and secure same in selected extended portion. Fastening members secure the two connector members together. Stop members extend from each end member, between the intermediate members and interjacent two adjacent fastening members.

  • Patent number: 4031695
Abstract: A hedging apparatus is disclosed which comprises a wheeled vehicle having a specially adapted chain saw thereon for cutting limbs and branches from trees, hedges, or shrubs, which are planted in rows. The chain saw is provided with a plurality of spaced-apart guide bars which extend forwardly of the cutter chain, thus assuring the severing of limber branches which would otherwise be pushed aside by the saw and remain uncut. Resilient springs in the form of elongated rods can be used in conjunction with the guide bars to prevent chattering of the branches being cut. To particular advantage, a positioner can be provided for setting the chain saw blade at a selected pitch angle and for maintaining the selected pitch angle during a hedging operation. To further advantage, a hopper can also be provided for collection and disposal of the severed limbs and branches during the hedging operation so that they do not have to be subsequently gathered up and hauled to another site for disposal.
