  • Patent number: 4210155
Abstract: A disposable inhalation spirometer apparatus for prophylactic respiratory maneuver is in expensively constructed and intended for single-patient use. The apparatus includes a tube with an interior respiratory passage communicating through a one-way valve structure to a nebulizer assembly and having a separate visual inhalation meter. The nebulizer assembly includes both a medicant mist dispensing nebulizer and an enlarged, enclosed, mist accumulation chamber which is positioned between the nebulizer and the tube passage. The visual inhalation meter includes a tube defining a chamber and having a transparent portion or window with a scale or indicia thereon and in which is mounted a floating piston movable in response to low differential pressure to indicate relative inspirational ability. A one-way check valve in an end of the tube passage opens to the atmosphere upon exhalation and permits the patient to maintain constant contact with a tube mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 4210289
Abstract: A tub grinder suitable for comminuting forage crops as feed for livestock comprising a rotating circular tub having a floor with an opening therein through which a hammermill communicates for chopping the forage. When the forage is fed too quickly and overloads the hammermill, a governor senses that the rotational speed of the hammermill has been reduced and operatively signals the tub driving mechanism to slow the speed thereof, thus feeding forage at a lesser rate and allowing the hammermill to recover. A similar but opposite process occurs when the hammermill increases in speed to the extent that it is able to handle additional forage. A dampening mechanism is used in conjunction with the governor and functions to allow the tub rotation to slow immediately upon the hammermill being overloaded, but somewhat delays the increase of the tub rotation when the hammermill can receive additional forage.

  • Patent number: 4203414
Abstract: Irregular surfaced slabs of stone are split into blocks of selected width by an apparatus having an upright frame mounted upon a base and with spaced vertical columns connected to opposed upper and lower vertically reciprocal carriages carrying rows of individual power rams each connected to chisels for selected vertical reciprocation relative to the carriage and into engagement with a stone surface. The chisel rams lock into engagement and carriage rams within the columns and on the base move the upper and lower carriages toward each other to split the stone therebetween. Separate hydraulic power units for each carriage and the chisels carried thereon are connected via electrical circuits to a central unit for regulating operation of the apparatus. An upper hydraulic power fluid unit is mounted to the upper carriage for movement therewith and includes a motor driving power fluid pumps and having a reservoir integral with the upper carriage.

  • Patent number: 4195499
Abstract: An apparatus for transfer printing of discrete articles comprises a frame having a rotating heat drum mounted therein, and a planar work surface member which extends perpendicularly of the heat drum, and includes a guide member at the forward end thereof. A first endless belt extends over the heat drum and the guide member, and has an upper, feed side thereof supported on the work surface member, thereby forming a planar work area for laying out and aligning a transfer and an associated article to be printed. A second endless belt is mounted in the frame, overlies a printing end of the first belt, and translates syncronously with the first belt. The first and second belts are urged against the heat drum, whereby translation of the belts conveys the assembled transfer and article from the work area to a position between the belts for printing under heat and pressure, and subsequently into a discharge tray.

  • Patent number: 4193456
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting soil engaging tools to mobile agricultural equipment includes a vertically extending frame adapted for connection to the agricultural equipment and a trailing arm pivotally attached to the frame and having soil engaging tools attached rearwardly thereof. An extensile arm arrangement is pivotally attached between an upper portion of the frame and a lower terminal sleeve member. The sleeve member is slidably mounted upon the length of the trailing arm and is selectively fastened to the trailing arm at various positions therealong whereby the depth of the soil engaging tools in the soil is determined. A compression spring is utilized to biasly extend the extensile arm arrangement, and the upper portion of the extensile arm has an over-center locking device whereby the extensile arm may be rapidly lengthened or shortened, and respectively locked in such condition, thereby respectively engaging or disengaging the soil engaging tools in the soil.

  • Patent number: 4192281
Abstract: A crossbow having a trigger device for retaining and releasing a crossbow string comprises a crossbow string holding arm, a trigger arm, and a locking lever, each being pivotally mounted between the sideplates of a trigger assembly housing. The trigger arm engages a portion of the holding arm in a cocked position for securingly holding the crossbow string, and is pivotable out of engagement with the holding arm, thereby releasing the bowstring for firing an attached arrow. The locking lever prevents trigger arm rotation in a locked position, and is rotatable therefrom to an unlocked position for arrow release. The holding arm is mounted in a trigger assembly housing adjacent to the locking lever, and selectively abuts the same, whereby rotation of the holding arm during a portion of the cocking operation, automatically and contemporaneously pivots the safety lever toward the locked position.

  • Patent number: 4191262
Abstract: A light soil tillage implement is adapted to be drawn by a farm tractor, and is designed to perform a light tillage immediately preceeding fertilizing, planting, and/or other farming operations. The implement comprises a frame having support wheels thereon engaging the ground, one or more tool bars having ground working tools thereon, and a mounting mechanism for each tool bar connecting each tool bar with the frame. Each mounting mechanism comprises a series of linkage elements which resiliently bias the working tools downwardly into the soil when the implement is in a tilling position. The mounting mechanism is adapted to positively lift the tools and tool bars out of engagement with the ground when it is desired to transport the implement, and further individually mounts each tool bar in a manner which allows the same to laterally rotate about a central point thereon in order to follow the contour of the soil independent from the other tool bars.
