Patent number: 4453857Abstract: Hazardous or toxic waste material is permanently stored by sealing the material in sealed containers within an otherwise solid concrete block buried in the earth. A concrete chamber with integrated floor and side walls is formed in the ground. A first group of sealed, filled containers is arranged on the floor and covered with concrete. After the poured concrete has been cured, a second layer of containers is placed in the chamber and similarly encased in concrete. A final layer of concrete of substantial depth is poured atop the uppermost layer of containers to seal the chamber. Means can be provided to collect and recycle any leachate which escapes the concrete chamber providing additional safety.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1981Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Inventors: Gilbert M. Patent number: 4446979Abstract: A tamper indicating closure including an outer cap and an inner liner which relies on relative movement of the outer cap and the inner liner during opening movement to indicate tampering of the container after it has been sealed for the first time, the relative movement being insured by a means which coact with the container to resist rotation of the liner and maintain the container in a sealed condition while the outer cap is being rotated in an opening direction. Once opened, the outer cap and the inner liner are maintained in a position for movement as a unit in both the opening and closing direction of the closure.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1983Date of Patent: May 8, 1984Assignee: Sunbeam Plastics CorporationInventors: Peter P. Patent number: 4442955Abstract: A child-resistant and tamper indicating overcap for a pressurized container, such as an aerosol can, having a valve with an axially protruding discharge nozzle which must be depressed to actuate the valve for discharging the contents of the container. The overcap includes a valve guard slidable between a radially outer position in which a portion of the guard overlies the nozzle for preventing actuation thereof and an inner position in which the nozzle can be depressed. A removable tamper indicating tab is connected to the guard to prevent movement of the guard to an actuating position until it is removed. The overcap includes a resilient portion of the guard which biases the guard toward its outer position and which must be overcome in order to move the guard to its inner position and which returns the guard to its outer position when the guard is released.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1982Date of Patent: April 17, 1984Assignee: Sunbeam Plastics CorporationInventor: Randall G. Bush

Patent number: 4440116Abstract: Apparatus for injecting coolant into the fuel-air mixture supplied to a turbocharged internal combustion engine in which coolant is stored in a reservoir that is connected to the outlet side of a turbocharger compressor and is pressurized during times that the turbocharger is generating positive pressures above a predetermined level. The pressure in the reservoir forces coolant to the inlet side of the turbocharger to cool fuel and injection is interrupted when the pressures are below that level and cooling of the fuel-air mixture is not required.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1982Date of Patent: April 3, 1984Assignee: Schmelzer CorporationInventors: David L. Stevenson, Frank M. Seleno

Patent number: 4437255Abstract: A fish detecting system including a radio transmitter in a float attached to a fishing line and a receiver at a point remote from the line. The float includes a power source and a normally open switch between the power source and transmitter. A switch actuator is magnetically held in a switch open position and moved by fish activity to magnetically move the switch to a closed position energizing the transmitter to send a signal to the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1982Date of Patent: March 20, 1984Inventor: Dorian Reed

Patent number: 4436211Abstract: A safety package including a container with a unitary screw type cap in which the container has a locking lug engageable with one of a plurality of ratchet teeth located around the circumference of the cap. The ratchet teeth permit turning movement of the cap in a closing direction until the cap is squeezed and deformed at diametrically opposed points to move the engaged ratchet tooth out of engagement with the locking lug to permit turning movement of the cap to an opening position. A second locking lug is offset from a point diametrically spaced from the first locking lug so that one or the other of the lugs engages a ratchet tooth thereby doubling the effectiveness of the teeth.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1982Date of Patent: March 13, 1984Assignee: Sunbeam Plastics CorporationInventor: Peter P. Gach

Patent number: 4428368Abstract: This device is constructed in such a manner that a pump for suction and exhaust of air by an electric motor and a crank is provided with a funnel type cup by means of a detachable hose, and an opening portion of the cup is brought into contact with the part of the human body under pressure airtightly. Massage stimulation is performed by the air suction causing the swollen surface of the body and by the air exhaust (discharge) causing the pressure on the surface of the body. Moreover, the cup is provided with an electric heating illuminant to increase the massage stimulation effect by heated air or an electrode for generating low frequency pulse signal.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1980Date of Patent: January 31, 1984Inventor: Masakatsu Torii

Patent number: 4424916Abstract: An improved apparatus for dispensing toothpaste onto a toothbrush wherein a housing is adapted to be supported on a horizontal surface and provided with an opened bottom end so as to give access to a manually-operated reciprocating pump and a toothpaste container disposed in a side-by-side relationship within the housing. The toothpaste container has a collapsible inner lining containing the toothpaste and rigid outer casing. A conduit connects the outlet of the toothpaste container with the inlet of the manually operated pump. The pump has a discharge spout that is pivotally supported by the housing for horizontal movement, with complementary lock portions on both the spout and the actuating member of the pump so that the pump cannot be operated when the discharge spout is pivoted to a closed position.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1981Date of Patent: January 10, 1984Inventor: Donald L. Patent number: 4387851Abstract: An improved apparatus for projecting a viscous coating material onto a surface whereby a constant pressure pump propels a viscous coating material, such as tar, pitch, oil or the like, through a high-pressure relief valve to a spray gun or wand. The rapid flow of the material through the restricted orifice of the relief valve produces sufficient friction to heat the viscous material thereby reducing the viscosity and rendering it easier to apply. A secondary relief valve is provided to reduce any excess pressure that develops and to recirculate any unused material to a supply resevoir.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1981Date of Patent: June 14, 1983Inventor: Edward R.
