  • Patent number: 5879392
Abstract: A knee prosthesis comprising a femoral component, a tibial component and a meniscal component therebetween, a stabilising peg extending from the tibial component through an elongated slot in the meniscal component and into an opening in the femoral component between a pair of condylar members thereof. The part of the peg extending through the slot allows the meniscal component to rotate and also to move linearly about the peg along one path, whilst the part of the peg in said opening engages cam surfaces on a projection between said condylar members as the knee is flexed, in use, and said linear movement of the meniscal component occurs.

  • Patent number: 5875730
Abstract: A device for attaching pontoon forms of watercraft to rigid keels. The invention utilizes an elongate member attached to the keel. The elongate member includes an arcuate form having a surface that substantially conforms a portion of the surface of the pontoon. The elongate member also includes a channel which receives a lip extending radially from the pontoon. The interference between the channel and the lip prevent the pontoon from being radially removed from the elongate member. The surface of the arcuate form may include ridges.

  • Patent number: 5876164
Abstract: A rectangular base mounted on wheels and coupled to a tractor. Protection walls preferably made of a steel grid are mounted at the front and rear ends and along the left longitudinal side, the opposite side remaining free from protection wall. A vertical support is disposed parallel to the protection wall mounted on the left side of the base. On the right side of the base there is a non-slip member and an attachment is provided to fix the load of the car frame to the base for transportation. Transverse members are mounted on the base which facilitate loading and unloading of car frames with a fork type loader through the right side wherein no protection wall has been provided.

  • Patent number: 5875847
Abstract: The invention comprises a casing tool having a lateral root premachined therein and plugged with cement. A wear bushing is also positioned within the entrance to the root from the uphole side of the tool to prevent distortion or even destruction of the root while the lateral is being drilled. Subsequent to the lateral being drilled the wear bushing is removed and a liner is run which is then sealed to the bore of the root with conventional sealing techniques, thus avoiding the need to seal oval holes.

  • Patent number: 5877467
Abstract: A circuit breaker is equipped with a current limiting arc runner for effective overcurrent interruption without additional heating under quiescent operating conditions. Upon contact separation, an arc is drawn with the endpoints of the arc being initially rooted on the set of open contacts. Further opening of the contacts commutates the arc onto the current limiting arc runner to suppress the circuit current.

  • Patent number: 5867934
Abstract: A rugged, low cost small animal trap is disclosed. The trap comprises (1) unitary setting mechanism, (2) swingably mounted bait holder, (3) trap door, and (4) a cage body. One end of the trap is fixed closed and the trap door is mounted slidably at the other end of the trap for movement between a first position which is set in an open position supported on at least two points on the externally controlled unitary setting mechanism and a second gravity closed position. The removable bait holder is baited by removing the handle and cover and then after the handle and cover are replaced, the trap is then externally set. When an animal moves the bait holder by pushing, the setting mechanism is moved toward the closed fixed end, thereby allowing the trap door to close by means of gravity and trapping the small animal alive.

  • Patent number: 5870008
Abstract: A residential circuit breaker electromagnetic trip unit facilitates the assembly of the trip unit components by use of a pair of braid connectors for connection between the trip unit magnet and the circuit breaker contact arm. The trip unit bimetal is directly welded to the trip unit magnet and the braid connectors for reduction in material and labor costs. The contact arm and the magnet are shaped to present a parallel path connection between the contact arm and the magnet for close fit tolerance. The front surface of the magnet is configured to prevent magnetic adhesion between the magnet and the trip unit armature under intense short circuit overcurrent conditions.

  • Patent number: 5864185
Abstract: A passive filter device for a capacitor in series with a substantially inductive transmission line of an electric transmission system is disclosed. The passive filter device comprises a double-loop RCL filter in parallel with the series capacitor. At power frequency, the filter device allows the power frequency current to pass through the series capacitor with minimum power losses. At sub-synchronous resonance frequencies, the passive filter device provides bypassing of the series capacitor with maximum selectivity of the RCL filter.

  • Patent number: 5858887
Abstract: An electrical substrate material is presented comprising a thermosetting matrix of polybutadiene or polyisoprene in an amount of 25 to 50 volume %; a woven glass fabric in an amount of 10 to 40 volume %; a particulate, preferably ceramic filler, in an amount of from 5 to 60 volume %; and a flame retardant. Importantly, the composition comprises only a single resin, i.e., polybutadiene or polyisoprene. A peroxide cure initiator and/or crosslinking agent may optionally be added. The presence of a very high surface area particulate filler, preferably fumed silica, is also preferred, in that its presence results in a prepreg which has very little tackiness and can therefore be easily handled by operators. This low tackiness feature allows for the use of conventional automated layup processing, including foil cladding, using one or more known roll laminators.
