Patent number: 8196743Abstract: A needle-holding device (1) suitable in particular as a package comprises a flat needle carrier section (4) and an adjoining section that has a clamping lip (5) that is resiliently biased against the needle carrier section (4). The clamping lip (5) reaches around the stitch-forming sections of the needles (2) which are held lying next to each in contact with each other on the needle carrier section (4). The resiliently yielding clamping lip (5) permits the insertion and the pull-out of one, several or of all the needles (2).Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 2007Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: Groz-Beckert KGInventors: Uwe Stingel, Johannes Bruske, Hans-Joachim Halamoda

Patent number: 7069959Abstract: A heddle shaft is formed of a hollow metal profile section into which an expanding element for vibration damping is inserted. The expanding element is for example a precompressed foam strip which expands after insertion into the internal chamber of the hollow metal profile section until it is seated with a certain initial tension between the side walls of the hollow metal profile section. It is embodied as a solid (non-liquid) body and is introduced as such into the internal chamber. For being locked in place, it can be provided with adhesive faces.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2004Date of Patent: July 4, 2006Assignee: Groz-Beckert KGInventors: Reiner Manthey, Rudolf Rossing

Patent number: 7064948Abstract: A degaussing system for magnetic media is provided, the system comprising an erasing head connected to an LC circuit and the erasing head including an elongated form around which a coil is wound. The coil has two segments which are spaced apart a distance to provide adjustment of the electrical and/or magnetic properties of the coil.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: June 20, 2006Assignee: Data Security, Inc.Inventors: Robert A. Schultz, LeRoy D. Thiel

Patent number: 5867106Abstract: A wireless interface device is adapted to be interfaced with a host computer. While the wireless interface device is connected to the host computer, the keyboard and mouse input devices of the host computer are locked out to prevent unauthorized access. Should the situation occur in which the user needs to access the host computer to which the wireless interface device is connected, the keyboard and mouse input devices can be re-enabled by way of a password.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1995Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Packard Bell NECInventors: Depeng Bi, S. Patent number: 5239776Abstract: A canopy garage door opener including a mechanism for interconnecting a horizontal, rectilinear reciprocating carriage drive means to a canopy door having a first axis fixed to the door and movable vertically in a guide means and a pair of crank arms pivoted at the top of a door opening and to a horizontal axis fixed with respect to the door. The mechanism includes a lever pivoted to the carriage forming part of a quadrangular link assembly pivoted to the door at one apex and connected by another link to the door from an adjacent apex. Guard means including fixed and movable plates are disposed on both sides of the mechanism to shield it, the movable plates being pivotally connected to the mechanism and being rotated by a cam and follower connection to the fixed plates.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1992Date of Patent: August 31, 1993Assignee: The Chamberlain Group, Inc.Inventor: Roger W. Patent number: 4888955Abstract: A method and system for delivering high pressure, subcooled liquid carbon dioxide. An insulated tank having a height greater than its internal diameter holds liquid CO.sub.2 to a depth of at least about 6 feet, and high pressure, subcooled liquid CO.sub.2 is delivered from a lower outlet of the tank. CO.sub.2 vapor is condensed in the upper region to maintain a desired high pressure, e.g., about 290-310 psi., at the top of the tank. By withdrawing liquid CO.sub.2 from an upper region in the tank, subcooling it by heat exchange and returning subcooled liquid CO.sub.2 to a lower region, a thermocline region is created at least 2 feet below the surface, and above which equilibrium high pressure liquid CO.sub.2 exists. Heat exchange is efficiently carried out during off hours using liquid carbon dioxide to chill the condensed refrigerant from an existing auxiliary mechanical refrigeration unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1988Date of Patent: December 26, 1989Assignee: Liquid Carbonic CorporationInventors: Lewis Tyree, Jr., Roger F. Gyger, George D. Rhoades

Patent number: 4820530Abstract: High solids curd and cheese are produced by fermenting and evaporating a milk retentate. Preferably, moisture is evaporated under vacuum to 55 percent or more solids while the fermented retentate is spread on a drum surface. Curd is formed on the surface under quiescent conditions and is doctored off without substantial breakdown of curd structure. Salts such as sodium chloride may be added to the retentate to prevent coagulation during fermentation. A milk clotting enzyme may be added after fermentation and before evaporation in an amount insufficient to cause coagulation which is avoided prior to curd formation.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1984Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Kraft, IncorporatedInventors: James W. Moran, James R. Posdal, Gary W. Trecker

Patent number: 4779165Abstract: A disk storage drive is provided with a brushless drive motor having a stator with a winding. An external rotor coaxially surrounds the stator and is spaced therefrom by a substantially cylindrical air gap. The rotor includes a permanent magnet and a soft magnetic yoke. A hub is provided that is concentric to the yoke and is connected to the rotor for rotation therewith. The hub has a disk mounting portion on its outer peripheral surface that can be passed through the central opening of a standardized storage disk for mounting the storage disks for rotation therewith. At least half of the axial longitudinal dimension of the stator winding and the rotor magnet interacting therewith is housed within the disk mounting portion of the hub. The hub is made from a non-ferromagnetic material that is suitable for storage drive clean chamber use after dimensional finishing of the hub.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1987Date of Patent: October 18, 1988Assignee: Papst-Motoren GmbH & Co. KGInventors: Dieter Elsaesser, Johann von der Heide

Patent number: 4762993Abstract: A method and apparatus senses the deviation of a neutral particle beam from a predetermined direction. The neutral particle beam is derived from a composite particle beam having residual charged particles with substantially the same directional characteristics as the neutral particles making up the neutral particle beam. A deflection magnet deflects at least a portion of the charged particles from the composite particle beam a known amount toward a detector array including apertures for forming a plurality of charged particle beamlets. Deviation of the charged particle beamlet is determined as an indication of the direction of the neutral particle beam relative to the predetermined direction.A similar measurement of neutral particles around the periphery of the neutral beam provides deviation data of the neutral beam which, when correlated with the data of the charged particle beam, provide an instantaneous transfer characteristic of the magnetic deflection system.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 1987Date of Patent: August 9, 1988Inventor: Kenneth G. Moses
