  • Patent number: 4228318
Abstract: A method and means are disclosed for dissipating heat in a high voltage cable termination which includes a plurality of axially stacked annular capacitor elements disposed coaxially over the prepared end of a high voltage cable and disposed within an annular insulator so that a temperature gradient normally exists radially across the capacitor elements. A thermally and electrically conductive annular disc is interposed between each adjacent pair of stacked capacitors for dissipating heat from the area inwardly of the capacitors to the area outwardly thereof. The conductive discs enable a significantly greater increase in terminator ampacity, and may be employed in both AC and DC high voltage systems.

  • Patent number: 4226326
Abstract: A shaker conveyor is disclosed which includes a conveyor trough supported for reciprocating movement and having drive means including a pull rod adapted to effect reciprocating movement of the conveyor in a manner to advance discrete particles therealong. The conveyor trough has a resiliently mounted discharge end adapted to withstand forces which might otherwise tend to damage the trough and pull rod, and the pull rod is adapted to undergo axial foreshortening when subjected to predetermined axial loading so as to prevent damage thereto.

  • Patent number: 4202580
Abstract: The reclining chair disclosed is provided with a sequencing lock mechanism which prevents recline of the body support until the footrest is extended, and prevents retraction of the footrest until the body support is righted. Control is effected by a compound slot which confines a pin movable in two separate modes by the footrest and by the body support to two distinct paths corresponding to footrest and body support movement.

  • Patent number: 4192596
Abstract: A simple camera adapted for taking pictures with percussion-ignitable flashlamps. A striker element is cocked by movement against a spring and is retained in this position by spring-loaded sear lock. When the trigger is pivoted downward, the withdrawal of the sear lock causes the striker element to be driven in a straight line. An ear on the striker element hits a lug on a pivoted shutterblade and causes the shutterblade to swing against the bias of a light tension return spring to open the lens opening for predetermined time period until its return. When a flashlamp is employed, the firing pin portion of the striker element first contacts the torsion bar striker of the flashlamp, thus reducing the force subsequently imparted to the shutterblade and increasing the exposure time. The shutterblade is proportioned so that the lens opening is about 75 percent unobscured at the instant the flashlamp fires.
