  • Patent number: 7885088
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a converter of the multiphase interleaving type. According to the method, there is detected when a change of the load applied to an output terminal of the converter occurs. All the phases of the converter are simultaneously turned on, and a driving interleaving phase shift is recovered to restart a normal operation of the converter. A controller for carrying out such a method is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7880930
Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for reducing process color banding due to printhead non-uniformities in a direct marking device. In one example, a first measurement of a printhead spatial non-uniformity is obtained along a first line in a color space which produces a spatial uniformity when a target primary color is printed alone. A first spatial tone reproduction curve is generated. A second measurement of the printhead spatial non-uniformity is obtained along a second line in color space in a coverage area of a process color which maximally changes a halftone structure of the target primary color. A second spatial TRC is generated. The first and second spatial TRCs are combined using a weighted average which balances the primary and process colors. A modified spatial TRC is generated. The printhead is adjusted at a location of the target primary color according to the modified spatial TRC.

  • Patent number: 7864061
Abstract: A multi-stage process utilizing one or more radiation sensors on a distributed network for the detection and identification of radiation, explosives, and special materials within a shipping container. The sensors are configured as nodes on the network. The system collects radiation data from one or more nodes. The collected radiation data is dynamically adjusted according to at least one of a plurality of background radiation data based on a determined background environment about the container. The collected and adjusted radiation data is compared to one or more stored spectral images representing one or more isotopes to identify one or more isotopes present. The identified one or more isotopes present are corresponded to possible materials or goods that they represent.

  • Patent number: 7843616
Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for background suppression in the image path. In one example embodiment, an image is scanned and RGB color values generated for each pixel. Each of the pixels is converted into a Lab color space to obtain luminance and chrominance values. A background luminance and a luminance variation are determined for the scanned image. For each pixel, a determination is made whether that pixel is a white pixel or a non-white pixel based. If the pixel is a white pixel, an adjustment chrominance value for that pixel is determined. The value of the chrominance adjustment is modulated as a function of a difference between the white pixel's luminance and the background luminance. The modulated chrominance adjustment is applied to the white pixel. Adjusted and non-adjusted pixels are stored in a memory. A printer controller converts the pixels to an output space.

  • Patent number: 7835887
Abstract: What is disclosed is a novel system and method for determining real-time performance in a sub-assembly device that is driven by a dc motor. In one example embodiment, an electric motor is energized such that a sub-assembly driven by the motor achieves a target operating speed. Pulse width modulation data is captured and plotted along a time axis. A time duration when the sub-assembly device ended a startup operation and achieved a steady state operation is determined. A portion of the plotted data is then compared to an ideal plot defined for that sub-assembly device. Based on the result of that comparison, a determination is made whether the sub-assembly device is performing within accepted operational parameters. A maintenance operation is signaled to be performed in response to the determined sub-assembly operational performance. The data is stored in a historical database from which a preventative maintenance schedule can be derived.

  • Patent number: 7814460
Abstract: A hierarchical modular software development tool provides a graphical user interface to allow development of hierarchical module software components. The software development tool allows graphical creation of a software component processing hierarchy and then generates a software component using this specified processing hierarchy. The packages developed using this tool are able to include event modules that allow sub-branches of the software component processing hierarchy to be executed without requiring processing of modules of the software component hierarchy that precede the event nodes. Further nodes that are able to be included in the processing hierarchy include action nodes, that contain operational software, and conditional nodes that allow condition testing and conditional execution of processing branches.

  • Patent number: 7808673
Abstract: A system, method and computer readable medium for capturing check data during a print process is disclosed. The method on a computer system includes observing a print command issued by an application to send check information to a printer. Next, a spool file in a condensed format, such as Extended Metafile Format (EMF), is written to a disk in response to the print command. This spool file read, and subsequently an output file is generated based on information in the spool file. The output file is written in EMF format if the output file contains image information. If the output file does not contain image information, the output file is written in text format. Then, the output file is modified to conform to a template. Lastly, the output file that was modified is sent to an output destination, such as a file storage space, a bank or a printer.

  • Patent number: 7784669
Abstract: Briefly, a novel material process is disclosed wherein one or more nucleation modifiers are added, in trace amounts, to a lead-free tin-rich solder alloy to produce a solder composition with reduce or suppressed undercooling temperature characteristics. The modifier being a substance which facilitates the reduction of extreme anisotropic properties associated with body-centered-tetragonal tin based lead-free solder. The addition of the nucleation modifiers to the solder alloy does not materially effect the solder composition's melting point. As such, balls of solder with the nucleated composition freeze while other solder balls within the array remain in the melt. This effectively enables one substrate to be pinned to another substrate by one or more predetermined solder balls to secure the package while the remaining solder joints are in the liquid state.

  • Patent number: 7782490
Abstract: What is provided are a novel system and method for determining a sensitivity matrix for adaptive color control in a color marking device capable of performing device independent color correction. In one embodiment, a determination is made as to what control operation the color marking device is being characterized for. Nominal CMYK values are then selected based on the determined control operation. If the control operation is a gray balancing operation, the nominal CMYK values are selected using C=M=Y=L* and K*=0 values. Otherwise, the nominal CMYK values are selected using a CMYK to L*a*b* printer map. Color parameters are determined for the CMYK values based on the selected nominal CMYK values. A sensitivity matrix is then generated from the color parameters and CMYK values. The method facilitates calibration of dynamically varying color reproduction devices.
