Abstract: A gas-liquid mixture consisting in particular of a petroleum product supplied to a feed pipe in a dynamic flow regime is subjected to a vortical gravity-separation process so as to form two separate streams of gas and liquid for separate measurements of their flow rates, the streams being then combined for final dynamic discharge through a common pipe.

Abstract: The invention relates to an information recording card using a semiconductor laser beam for writing and reading information. The card has a recording layer formed on a card substrate so as to closely cover at least a selected surface area of the substrate and may have a reflective metal layer on the back side of the recording layer. The material of the reacording layer is a polymer blend which exhibits phase transition and resultant changes in light transmittance and reflectance by heating and which is either a binary polymer blend of a vinylidene fluoride (VDf) base polymer, either PVDF or a copolymer of VDF and another F-containing monomer such as TFE, and an acrylic or methacrylic polymer represented by PMMA or a ternary copolymer comprising a vinyl ester polymer in addition to the components of the binary polymer blend. The thermally caused phase transition is reversible by slow cooling in the case of the binary polymer blend but is irreversible in the case of the ternary polymer blend.
Abstract: In a bag-making macine where a base is formed on an end of a tube section by folding and successively folded tube sections are conveyed transversely at intervals with the main part of each tube section flattened and its folded base perpendicular thereto, photocells are provided to scan the leading and trailing folded edges of each base. The photocells and a light source are disposed on opposite sides of each base and an arcuate disc rotatable about its center of curvature at a circumferential speed equal to the conveying speed of the tube sections bridges the intervals between the bases of successive tube sections so that the photocells remain unexposed unless the bases are deformed.
Abstract: A camera adapted for use with either a silent-film cartridge or a sound-film cartridge of larger size and having sound recording means including a capstan and a pressure roll movable into and out of engagement with the sound film against the capstan with a sensing means actuated by the sound-film cartridge inserted into the camera for permitting the actuation of a release mechanism for movement, through a mechanical linkage, of the pressure roll into engagement with the sound-film against the capstan and for deactivating the release mechanism upon insertion of a silent-film cartridge into the camera to permit disengagement of the pressure roll from the capstan.
