  • Patent number: 6687500
Abstract: A base station simulator (400) provides testing of soft handoff functionality for a mobile station (400), such as a mobile telephone, between a first base station (BS1) and a second base station (BS2). The base station simulator (400) includes two digital baseband processors (402) and (404) for generating forward transmission signals to simulate the signals from the two base stations (BS1) and (BS2). The two digital base station signals have gain digitally controlled using multipliers (407-409) and the signals are added together digitally using a digital adder (410) before conversion to an analog signal using an A/D converter (412). The base station simulator (400) avoids the additional cost and space required for the redundant parts from two separate base station simulators, as conventionally used for testing soft handoff functionality.

  • Patent number: 6672315
Abstract: A brush includes a self-contained ion generator that subjects material being brushed to an outflow of ionized air containing safe amounts of ozone. The ion generator includes a high voltage pulse generator whose output pulses are coupled between first and second electrode arrays. Preferably the first array comprises at least one metal pin spaced coaxially-apart from a metal ring-like structure. Alternatively, the first array may comprise one or more wire electrodes spaced staggeringly apart from a second array comprising hollow “U”-shaped electrodes. Preferably a ratio between effective area of an electrode in the second array compared to effective area of an electrode in the first array exceeds about 15:1 and preferably is about 20:1. An electric field produced by the high voltage pulses between the arrays produces an electrostatic flow of ionized air containing safe amounts of ozone. The outflow of ionized air and ozone is directed between the brush bristles onto the material being brushed.

  • Patent number: 6665628
Abstract: Methods are provided for virtually embedding and/or de-embedding balanced four-port networks into/from a device under test (DUT). For the methods, a set of scattering-parameters is acquired for the DUT. Additionally, a respective set of scatter-parameters is acquired for each of the balanced four-port networks to be embedded and/or de-embedded. A transfer-matrix is generating for the DUT based on its scattering parameters. Further, a respective transfer-matrix is generated for each of the networks to be embedded/de-embedded based on its respective set of scattering-parameters. The transfer-matrix for the DUT is then multiplied with the one or more transfer-matrices associated with the balanced four-port networks to be embedded and/or by an inverse of the transfer-matrices associated with the balanced four-port networks to be de-embedded. A composite transfer-matrix is thereby produced. Finally, a set of composite scattering-parameters is then generated based on the composite transfer-matrix.

  • Patent number: 6663973
Abstract: Intermetal dielectric (IMD) and interlevel dielectric (ILD) that have dielectric constants (K) ranging from 2.0 to 2.6 are prepared from plasma or photon assisted CVD (PACVD) or transport polymerization (TP). The low K dielectric (LKD) materials are prepared from PACVD or TP of some selected siloxanes and F-containing aromatic compounds. The thin films combine barrier and adhesion layer functions with low dielectric constant functions, thus eliminating the necessity for separate adhesion and barrier layers, and layers of low dielectric constant. The LKD materials disclosed in this invention are particularly useful for <0.18 &mgr;m ICs, or when copper is used as conductor in future ICs.

  • Patent number: 6662310
Abstract: A machine-automated system tries to save vital-data of a crashed or otherwise frozen application program by: (a) identifying the apparently-frozen program; (b) identifying one or more windows within the identified program that are most likely to immediately contain data which the user is likely to consider as vital and in need of saving; and (c) instructing the frozen application program to itself transfer the data of said one or more of said identified windows to a separate, data-saving thread. A profiling database may be constructed for helping to identify the vital data-containing windows of both popular (well known) and obscure application programs. One such profiling database has ID records which define parent/child hierarchy relationships between vital data-containing windows and other windows of various application programs.
