  • Patent number: 6462650
Abstract: The present invention provides a tire monitor apparatus and monitored vehicle tire. A module which monitors tire information is supported by a rubber ply affixed to the inside surface of the tire. The module has electrical components for monitoring tire information by collecting, storing and/or reading information about the tire. A retainer assembly is used to secure the module to the rubber ply such that the module is support within the tire's cavity. The module is mounted to be removed, exchanged, etc. In one embodiment, the monitor module may be isolated from tire loads such that the durability of the monitoring system is improved. The fastener assembly has first parts carried by the rubber ply and second fastener parts built into the module. The first and second fastener parts cooperate to support said module from said rubber ply. The first part may be in the form of a shaft or stem having an axial length which allows the module to be retained at an offset distance from the ply and tire.

  • Patent number: 6363542
Abstract: A toilet ventilation apparatus which can either be attached to an existing toilet in a structure as an after market product or manufactured in combination with a toilet. The toilet ventilator draws odors directly from the toilet bowl through an intake duct and exhaust manifold through at least one connector duct into a heat resistant draft box with said odor being expelled through an exhaust pipe into an outside environment. The toilet ventilator accomplishes this by incorporating the physics law of rising heat in order to create a draft to draw toilet bowl odors up and out. A motion detector switches on the heat source, possibly a light bulb, and a time delay keeps the heat source on and the apparatus functioning for a predetermined period of time. A draft could also be created by connecting to and utilizing the hot air in an attic. The exhaust manifold fits under the back of the toilet seat and rests under the toilet tank with spacers for added space and support of the tank.

  • Patent number: 6332085
Abstract: A private telephone system and method to integrate a local paging system is disclosed which does not require an outside service provider, and at the same time, allows for ample time to effectively pick up calls which are for those away from their normal work station. The basic components of the system are a PBX/KSU switch, a plurality of telephone extension sets, a voice mail system, a local RF transmitter, and a plurality of local area pagers. The RF transmitter of low power output (2 or 5 watt) is connected upon receiving a set of parameters from the voice mail system. The voice mail system activates only that pager (or pagers) designated to the mailbox requested based upon configuration data (an individual or group of individuals). The system and method may provide for “immediate” activation of the pager without caller intervention, or “delayed” activation of the pager which requires caller intervention.

    Patent number: 6296542
Abstract: A hand held toy having a power source with a rotating shaft. A crank is connected with an end of the shaft and extends radially therefrom. An elongated flexible member is connected with the crank at a location radially spaced from its axis. An anchor member is connected with an opposite end of the elongated member and is adapted to control that end of the member. In use, rotation of the shaft causes the elongate member to form controlled substantially uniform convolutions and, selective relative movement between the power source and anchor causes the convolutions to form into varying controlled sizes and shapes.

  • Patent number: 6290203
Abstract: A pilot operated valve assembly having a pressure responsive valve member for opening and closing a main valve, the pilot valve actuator permits a very small operating force and a short actuation travel which is less than the stroke of the main valve member. Compactness and manufacturing economy is attained by the incorporation of an insert structure within a valve housing to facilitate the arrangement of pilot valve and bleed passages that operate the pressure responsive main valve member. Valve construction permits an axial in line arrangement of pilot valve actuator and main valve member to further achieve a compact valve size and to ease manufacturing assembly.

  • Patent number: 6290139
Abstract: A hot and cold water mixing valve to maintain the outlet water temperature at a preset level by using electronic sensors to actuate low voltage, pulse operated solenoid valves to regulate pressure in control passageways. The control passageway pressure differential across a drive diaphragm causes the diaphragm to move in response thereto to change the position of the main mixing valve. Minimum electrical energy is thus expended to regulate the temperature level.

  • Patent number: 6267062
Abstract: The two axle locomotive of this invention includes a diesel engine directly coupled to a generator for generating power to a single electrical traction motor. Preferably, the drive motor is an AC traction motor which drives both axles of the locomotive using a single drive shaft assembly with a drive shaft affixed to an armature of the AC traction motor. Power to the AC traction motor is controlled by using a variable frequency alternating current control system. Auxiliary equipment power is also provided by the AC generator. In addition, by reversing the current in the AC traction motor the motor becomes an AC braking motor. Changes in the traction ability of each axle resulting from weight transfer between the two axles is automatically compensated for by the single drive shaft assembly. The suspension system includes a locomotive frame supported by the pair of axles using elastomeric springs, which also provides dynamic damping to limit the motion of the locomotive.

  • Patent number: 6263545
Abstract: An apparatus for forming a non-woven fiber baft of fibrous material which includes a housing connecting with a plurality of feed chutes which feed fibers from a plurality of sources into a mixing chamber. Feed rolls, adjacent each discharge end of the feed chutes, are driven at selected speeds to withdraw fibers from the feed chutes at selected rates. A combing roll within the mixing chamber acts to assist the fibers from the mixing chamber into a beater chamber where they are further blended and opened. From the beater chamber the fibers move into a batt forming chute where they are formed into a fiber batt. The batt forming chute includes a packing belt and a vibrating assembly each driven at selected speeds to compact the fibers into a fiber batt of desired density.
