  • Patent number: 3943845
Abstract: A hay baler including a mobile chassis having a bale chamber and a power-driven plunger reciprocably mounted in the chamber for cyclically compressing hay in the chamber. A pickup lifts the windrowed hay from the ground and a feeding mechanism is reciprocably powered from the plunger to feed the hay into the bale chamber. The feeding mechanism includes a carriage mounted for reciprocation on a horizontal wall structure. A plurality of hay engaging fingers is pivotally suspended from the carriage beneath the wall structure for moving the hay from the pickup to the bale chamber. Each of the hay feeder fingers is removably secured to the carriage by a clamp disposed above the respective fingers. Openings are defined through the wall structure through which the clamps and the fingers are successively removable to facilitate replacement of worn or damaged fingers.

  • Patent number: 3939919
Abstract: Arm stress equalizer in tiltable, diagonal strut braced, bulldozer blade mountings, comprising an intervening link having closely adjacent portions of the link proper universally connected to the inner end of different ones of the diagonal struts, and having a prolongation to the link proper rendering the latter swingable toward and from the bulldozer blade. The prolongation is disposed in the central longitudinal plane of the bulldozer, is at the lower end of the link proper, and provides an offset therein which extends diagonally downwardly and forwardly from the struts and the one end of the link proper. The geometry selected insures equalization of side-load-imposed stress in the so-called pusharms provided for mounting the blade, and further insures limitation of stress in the pusharms when, under the special circumstance of an imposed side load condition and a tilted blade condition, the tilt induced stress then tends to be additively superimposed in one of the already side-stressed pusharms.

  • Patent number: 3938586
Abstract: A dual hinge mounting for both a rotary air screen unit of the blanking type and its associated condenser or other heat-radiating core, and by means of which the screen unit and core may be swung to accessible positions for servicing in situ. The screen unit and core are individually pivoted on separate axes and, in combination with their hinge connections and a connecting strap between them, establish an articulated parallelogram-like linkage arrangement whereby they move in unison to and from their servicing positions. A novel concealed dual latch arrangement which holds the screen unit in its operative position is accessible through a pair of hand holes in the mounting.

  • Patent number: 3937189
Abstract: A heat exchanger apparatus for a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine including a radiator axially spaced from the engine, an engine driven, suction type fan axially spaced intermediate the engine and radiator for drawing cooling air axially through the radiator, and fan shroud means shaped and positioned with respect to the radiator and the blades of the fan whereby the major component of the air stream discharged by the fan is in a direction reversed to the direction to the major component of the air stream entering the radiator. The fan shroud structure is formed to provide a generally cylindrical exit throat section (CF), a radial flat discharge section (RF), and a radial expander or diverging section (R) serving as a transition between the throat section and the radial exit section and wherein the propeller-type blades of the fan have a projected axial width (AW).

  • Patent number: 3935907
Abstract: A coupling assembly for interconnecting a pair of implements such as grain drills in end-to-end relation for towing behind a tractor for field operation and in an endwise direction for transport. The grain drills are connected to a tractor by conventional duplex hitch structure. The grain drills are connected to each other by a novel coupling assembly which in field operation permits the adjacent drills to move within limits toward and away from each other to accommodate ground level variations. The coupling assembly includes a latch unit positionable to lock the coupling assembly to thus retain the drills in fixed spaced relation to facilitate endwise transport of the drills.

  • Patent number: 3934392
Abstract: A debris receiving receptacle is mounted to the rear portion of a garden tractor or riding mower having a discharge outlet. Interconnecting the mower discharge outlet and receptacle is a conduit comprising, in rearward order, an outlet adapter, an extension member, an elbow having a fore and aft leg telescopingly receiving the extension member and a transverse leg discharging to the receptacle. The elbow is rotatably mounted on the receptacle frame to permit easy removal of the extension member for removing blockages. In a second embodiment the receptacle includes a frame defining an opening disposed about the periphery of the transverse leg, a porous outer shell member and an air impervious bag disposed within the outer shell member and clamped to the frame at its open end.
