Patent number: 7022938Abstract: A repair method for a structure having an open flaw in a welding heat affected portion, including, removing at least a part of the open flaw and thereby forming a concave portion in the welding heat affected portion, forming build-up weld layers so as to fill the concave portion, treating a surface of the build-up layers to reduce tensile residual stress by means of at least one of laser peening, shot blasting and water jet machining. Also disclosed is an apparatus suitable for carrying out the repair method.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2002Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Masataka Tamura, Yoshinobu Makino, Wataru Kono, Seiichiro Kimura, Nobuichi Suezono, Hidenori Takahashi

Patent number: 6942597Abstract: An engaging force of a pump impeller (1a) connected to an engine (21) and a turbine runner (1b) connected to an automatic transmission (23) is controlled by a controller (5). The controller (5) determines a target relative rotation speed of the pump impeller (1a) and the turbine runner (1b), and performs feedback control of the engaging force such that the difference between the target relative rotation speed and the real relative rotation speed is decreased. The controller (5) also performs feedforward control of the engaging force in a increasing direction. When the engine (21) is in a predetermined engine-stall prevention condition, the controller (5) prohibits the feedforward control so as to prevent an interference between feedback control and feedforward control.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2004Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Satoshi Segawa, Kazutaka Adachi

Patent number: 6688275Abstract: In a hydraulic pressure control system for an engine cylinder cutoff device through which a first group of cylinders are cut off with at least intake valves of engine valves included in the first group kept inactive, while a second group of cylinders are working, the system includes a valve mode switching mechanism being responsive to supply oil pressure for switching an operating mode of at least an intake valve of engine valves of each of the first group of engine cylinders from active to inactive. Also provided is a hydraulic pressure control valve regulating the supply oil pressure. A control unit incorporated in the system sets the supply oil pressure to a predetermined maximum pressure when initiating the inactive mode, and holds the supply oil pressure at a predetermined oil pressure lower than the predetermined maximum pressure before the inactive mode is released.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2002Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shigeki Shindou, Shigeru Sakuragi, Masaki Toriumi, Kazuto Tomogane

Patent number: 6659906Abstract: In a toroidal continuously variable transmission, a secondary oil pump is provided in addition to a primary oil pump driven by an engine. The secondary oil pump is driven in response to rotation of a road wheel. A hydraulic servo mechanism is connected to a trunnion to create an offset of the power roller from a neutral position for a tilting motion of the power roller. A feedback device is provided for feeding a degree of progress for ratio changing back to the hydraulic servo mechanism so that the power roller returns to the neutral position when a desired transmission ratio has been reached. When the road wheel is rotated in a stopped state of the engine, hydraulic pressure from the secondary oil pump is supplied to the hydraulic servo mechanism so that an actual transmission ratio is brought closer to a desired transmission ratio.Type: GrantFiled: April 3, 2002Date of Patent: December 9, 2003Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventor: Toshikazu Oshidari

Patent number: 6179328Abstract: A vehicle suspension apparatus includes an axle. The axle includes a pair of trailing arms with a transverse beam. Resilient bushings connect the forward ends of the trailing arms to the vehicle superstructure. A linkage mechanism connects the beam to the vehicle superstructure. Under force causing lateral displacement of the axle, the linkage mechanism induces moment on the beam to counteract oversteer tendency due to the lateral displacement of the axle.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1998Date of Patent: January 30, 2001Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kenji Kawagoe, Hikaru Nakajima, Yukihiro Suetsugu
