    Abstract: An apparatus and method for simulating airport lighting aids by providing a generator having a processor structured to receive a plurality of navigation signals representative of position and altitude of a host aircraft; a signal generator operated by the processor, the generator being structured to retrieve airport information from a database as a function of the position signal, compare the position and altitude signals with a glide path, and output a signal representative of a degree of coincidence with the glide path as a function of the position and altitude signals; and a plurality of indicators structured to receive the signal output by the signal generator and responsively output a visual indication of the degree of coincidence with the glide path.

    Abstract: There is provided a complex frequency response filter providing a frequency response having a desired shape. A first complex frequency response filter includes a first and a second reflecting surfaces defining a resonant cavity therebetween. Each of the reflecting surfaces respectively has a predetermined surface finish providing a given reflectivity, therefore providing resonances with a predetermined shaped frequency response of a predetermined amplitude and of a predetermined periodicity. Those frequency responses can then be summed to generate an arbitrarily complex spectral response. In another embodiment, the complex frequency response filter includes a transmission medium and a first and a second reflecting surfaces defining a resonant cavity therebetween.

    Abstract: The present invention enables the self-diagnosis functionality by embedding a cable modem with the CMTS system with mechanisms to redirect the signals from external connections to the embedded cable modem, thereby enabling the end user to fully test the CMTS using a suite of diagnostic tests. The embedded cable modem integrates the external CM, computer and diagnostic software in the chassis, or alternatively onto the CMTS card in the chassis. The invention enables the end user to fully test the functionality as a stand-alone unit, without relying on any external test equipment or methods. It also enables the end user to diagnose the CMTS from a remote location. Another major advantage of the present invention is that it enables the CMTS/CM function to be verified over the entire physical layer parameter set (frequency, symbol rate, FEC, signal levels, etc.) while not interrupting any of the services that are on the ‘live’ HFC plant.

    Abstract: Movement timing stimulators that aid in the relief of the symptoms of neurological movement disorders are provided. In one embodiment, a movement stimulator has a control unit. A stimulator is coupled to an output of the control unit. The stimulator is adapted to provide stimulation to an area of the body of a living subject. A sensor is also coupled to the control unit and is adapted to be disposed external to the body. The sensor is adapted to respond to a physical stimulus and to provide input to the control unit. The stimulator adapts to this physical stimulus to selectively provide at least one of a dual-polarity signal for providing cutaneous stimulation, a phased signal for providing surround sound aural stimulation, and a signal for providing visual stimulation transmitted to the stimulator by the control unit.
