  • Patent number: 8064377
Abstract: A method for enhancing the reliability of a simplified multicasting forwarding protocol in a wireless network is provided. The method comprises establishing a list of multi-point relaying (MPR) nodes for each of a plurality of nodes. The list of MPR nodes includes neighbor nodes that cover each of the plurality of nodes within two hops. A first set of nodes is identified that is not already in the list of MPR nodes. In a first approach, the first set of nodes includes nodes that are the only neighbor node to a node in the list of MPR nodes. In a second alternative approach, the first set of nodes includes nodes that are sequentially previous to a node in the list of MPR nodes. Once the first set of nodes is identified, the first set of nodes is added to the list of MPR nodes. If the first approach is used, the method further comprises identifying a second set of nodes that is not already in the list of MPR nodes. The second set of nodes comprises nodes that have the largest number of neighboring MPR nodes.

  • Patent number: 7697143
Abstract: An optical coupling device for connecting hollow core optical fiber coils in a fiber optic gyro system. An example fiber optic gyro system includes a recirculator or an integrated optics chip, a fiber coil of hollow core optical fiber with first and second ends, and a coupling device that holds an end of the hollow core optical fiber in an enclosed cavity at some predefined distance from the recirculator or integrated optics chip. The coupling device includes a housing for rigidly holding the fiber end in position. The housing includes a cavity that receives the fiber end.

  • Patent number: RE41771
Abstract: Systems for multiple use subchannels are provided. In one embodiment, a bidirectional communication system comprises: a first remote for communicating with a host using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the host communicatively coupled to a plurality of remotes in a multipoint-to-point configuration; wherein the first remote is configured to transmit up to a plurality of tones modulated with upstream information using OFDM; the first remote including a modulator for modulating the up to a plurality of tones with upstream information using OFDM, wherein the modulator is configured to adjust a carrier frequency of the plurality of tones such that when any tones are transmitted from the first remote and at least one other remote of the plurality of remotes, the orthogonality of the tones when received at the host is improved; and wherein both control data and payload data are transmitted on a first tone of the plurality of tones.
