Abstract: A system for introducing a geothermal system having a geothermal line and a releasable grout line into a bore in the earth is described. The grout line is withdrawn at a point where it is desired to introduce grout into the bore in the earth.
Abstract: A new model based on ray tracing is developed to estimate power spectral properties in laser Doppler velocimetry of retinal vessels and to predict the effects of laser beam size and eccentricity as well as absorption of laser light by oxygenated and reduced hemoglobin. There is described the model and show that it correctly converges to the traditional rectangular shape of the Doppler shift power spectrum, given the same assumptions, and that reduced beam size and eccentric alignment cause marked alterations in this shape. The changes in the detected total power of the Doppler-shifted light due to light scattering and absorption by blood can also be quantified with this model and may be used to determine the oxygen saturation in retinal arteries and veins. The potential of this approach is that it uses direct measurements of Doppler signals originating only from moving red blood cells. The invention opens new avenues for retinal vessel oximetry.
Abstract: This invention deals with inducing urination and/or defecation as well as gastrointestinal transit time through electro-magnetic induction. The claimed method provides a non-invasive procedure to stimulate excretory functions in paraplegic and quadriplegic patients.
Abstract: A leveling device permitting adjustment to level of a table saw planar surface by a first bubble level and thereafter adjustment of the leveling device to a desired cutting angle, followed by setting the table saw blade to the point where a second perpendicular bubble level.
Abstract: The present invention deals with determining the level of fluid in a container. Typically, a beverage container containing a liquid will absorb heat energy from the surrounding environment at a greater rate than a gaseous component in the headspace of the beverage container. Thus, as the liquid is drawn from a beverage container a greater headspace results. If a thermometric measuring device is employed along the height of the beverage container the volume may be determined by observing the difference in the temperature along the height of the beverage container. In practice, a beer keg may exhibit a difference of as much as 9° Fahrenheit on the exterior surface of the beer keg when measured at the headspace as opposed to the area where the liquid is present in the beverage container.
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the use of botanical extract compositions, which contain ingredients with self-preserving properties for use in cosmetic or dermatological compositions.

Abstract: The invention described herein permits decorative or other lighting of a transparent or a translucent surface by placing a light source within a frame and contacting the light source with the transparent or translucent surface. The transparent or translucent surface may be eroded in one or more places to provide contrasting images on the transparent or translucent surface.
Abstract: A supply of gas such as oxygen is provided to a person in need of such gas supply. The delivery system includes an alarm to alert the recipient of the gas or another when and if the gas supply is disrupted. The alarm system preferably includes a reset and on-off switch that is recessed sufficiently to prevent accidental disabling of the alarm system.
Abstract: The present invention deals with a plurality of transceivers which are programmable. The plurality of transceivers functions to permit, for example, a hearing impaired individual or a visually impaired individual to receive communications which indicate the source of the communication through the programming of one or more of the transceivers.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for warning when a person such as an infant has been left in an infant seat in a vehicle and the operator of the vehicle has departed from the vehicle. The apparatus includes an occupant detection mechanism for detecting the presence of an occupant within a seat-belted seat located within a vehicle; optionally a mechanism for detecting the state of the vehicle's motion; a control unit for generating an alarm signal when the occupant detection mechanism detects the presence of an occupant within the infant seat and an alarm unit for generating an alarm in response to the alarm signal.
Abstract: Pipe plugs are difficult to remove due in part to the design of the pipe plug to be extremely tight fit with a pipe. Pipe plugs are described as being removed by a pipe plug removal tool. The pipe plug removal tool permits easy access to a trench and employs leverage to remove the pipe plug.
Abstract: The present invention describes polyvinylchloride processing, commonly by extrusion, which may be utilized to obtain high impact resistance and low gloss polyvinylchloride articles.
