  • Patent number: 8322683
Abstract: A damper actuator motor device includes a fan brake device which is secured to a motor rotor shaft and is configured to reduce motor rotation speed in a preferential direction. Preferably, the fan brake device has an asymmetric configuration, and is adapted to gather air radially in an enclosed cavity and discharge it axially in one direction. The fan device preferably is adapted to project a size that takes up more than half of the space of the cavity. When the motor is back driven, the fan brake device causes differentially pressure and air resistance in a confined area, producing a drag and braking force that increases with motor speed. The invention can be applied to motor actuators used to control air dampers and other valves in gas or fluid delivery systems. The invention can also be used to reduce water hammer in water delivery systems.

  • Patent number: 8315724
Abstract: A sound reproduction and amplification system includes a digital central controller, a wireless transmitter and a plurality of addressable wireless digital receivers and digital amplifiers for driving loudspeakers or earphones, wherein Differential Pulse Width Modulation (DPWM) signals from the central control of the audio transmitter are sent to the addressable receivers, but no DPWM signals are sent unless there are changes in the target PWM signals. The control signaling is based on position mapping in each repetitive sequence of bits (i.e., each frame or word) in a digital communication channel, where only a single bit per channel per word is allotted to each receiver/amplifier/loudspeaker. If there is any change in output of any transmitter PWM from the audio processor (decoder), all the channel bits are sent to all the addressable loudspeakers.

  • Patent number: 8299781
Abstract: A radial position sensor includes a rotating element configured to rotate about an axis of rotation, which subject to displacement. The displacement from a first position to a second position can be represented by polar coordinates, e.g., (?, ?), where ? is a distance and ? is an angle. The sensor also includes a non-rotating emitting element configured to provide a plurality of electromagnetic fields and a non-rotating receiving element configured to receive the plurality of electromagnetic fields. The plurality of electromagnetic fields are electromagnetically coupled to the non-rotating receiving element through the rotating element. The electromagnetic coupling varies in dependence on the radial position of the axis of rotation of the rotating element. The non-rotating receiving element produces an output signal in response to the amount of coupling of the plurality of electromagnetic fields, and so the output signal is an indication of the radial position of the axis of rotation.
