Abstract: The instant invention provides a method for improving efficiency of RNA delivery to cells. The method comprises applying a low strength electric field to the cells and then after a certain time period, administering the ribonucleic acid sequence to the cells. Devices, kits, and RNA molecules suitable for delivery and devices suitable for practicing the disclosed methods are also provided.

Abstract: An active carbon filter unit for a tank system consists of a housing (13) in which two chambers (31, 32) are formed, carrying an active carbon filling, which form a section of a flow path which at its one end leads via a valve (6) and an air filter (7) into the ambient atmosphere and at its other end leads via a valve (9) and a non-return valve (10) to a connection for producing an underpressure or into the suction region of an internal combustion engine and via a connection (17) into the tank system. The valves (6, 9), the non-return valve (10) and a housing part (27) receiving the electrical connections thereof are part of a uniform control module (15), which is exchangeably inserted into a recess (14) of the housing (13).
Abstract: A system and method for incorporating relevance feedback into an image search. A multimedia database is first searched using a domain specific similarity matrix (DSM), resulting in a list of image results ranked by their similarity to a query key-image. The results are then reexamined using a personalized similarity matrix (PSM). The PSM includes image that have been selected by the user, either in previous searches or from lists of candidate images. Similarity scores are calculated between the domain relevant images in the PSM and the results images. The new similarity scores are combined with the original similarity scores and the images is re-ranked into a final results list. Any images selected by the user may then be used to update and/or expand the PSM.
Abstract: A system and method for comparing images by calculating an edit distance between the images using the results of matching portions of one image to the other. The first image is divided into blocks of pixels. For every block of pixels, a closest match is found in the second image. Substitution is equated to the sum of the errors in the closet matches. Deletion is equated to the percentage of the second image not involved in any of the matching. Insertion is equated to the percentage of the second image simultaneously involved in matching more than one block. The image edit distance may then be calculated as the weighted sum of the insertion, deletion and substitution. Recognition may be done by finding a minimum edit distance between an image of an unknown object and a set of reference images.
Abstract: A method (400) for optimizing bandwidth utilization in a communications network (100). The communications network can include a data source (105) and a data client (110). Responsive to a measurement of at least one communication parameter (120) of a commutated bitstream (115) which is transmitted to the client, the data source can change a commutation format of the commutated bitstream. The communication parameters can include a data receive time (TRx), a data latency and/or an effective receive data rate (DEff) of the commutated bitstream. The communication parameters can be transmitted to the data source as telemetry. The change of commutation format can occur in an open systems interconnection (OSI) layer such as a session layer and/or a transport layer.
Abstract: The present invention relates to devices, systems, and methods for improving memory and/or cognitive function by brain delivery of compositions of small interfering RNA or vectors containing the DNA encoding for small interfering RNA. Such compositions can be administered using devices, systems and methods for direct delivery of the compositions to the brain, or using devices, systems, methods of delivery, and compositions that deliver small interfering RNA or vectors containing the DNA encoding the small interfering RNA across the blood-brain barrier. The present invention also provides valuable small interfering RNA vectors, and methods for reduction of BACE1 levels in the hippocampus, cerebral cortex, or other regions of the brain that have beneficial effects on improving memory and/or cognitive function in a subject.
