  • Patent number: 4132292
Abstract: A brake having first and second brake support means; a brake shoe mounted on each support means intermediate the ends of each support means, each support means pivotably being mounted at one end to a fixed frame, a first spring means mounted to the other end of the second support means biasing the first and second support means, and thus the brake shoes toward each other in a braking action. First actuating means are connected to the second support means and act against the first spring means to maintain the brake shoes in a non-braking position and selectively operable to release the first spring means. A third brake support means is pivoted to one of the first and second brake support means, the third brake support means being also connected to one of the brake shoes.

  • Patent number: 4082495
Abstract: An improved flame retention head assembly for use in the air tube of a fuel burner having a fuel nozzle in the tube. The assembly includes a tubular member having in sequence a conical, cylindrical, and flared section with air-fuel mixing means in the conical section, and air passage means in the cylindrical and flared sections. The size of the air passage means in the cylindrical section can be adjusted. This device with its air level combinations, allows an excess of combustion air of 5 to 15% only, thus resetting in flame temperatures of more than 3,000.degree. F.

  • Patent number: 4067146
Abstract: Tubular sealing joint mounted along the edge of a closure element of an automobile body. It comprises a tubular member made of flexible extruded material and having a longitudinal sealing face coming in contact with another closure element of the automobile body, in closed condition of the closure elements. It is provided with spaced groups of parallel flexible sealing lips extending along the tubular member and contiguously disposed transversely of the tubular member, the flexible sealing lips being intended to compensate localized flattening of the tubular member and being integral with it. Also disclosed is an extrusion head for extruding the sealing joint, comprising a die having a central core and an outer bored body spacedly surrounding the core to define therebetween a passage for the extrusion of an elongated tubular member. The outer body is formed along a portion of its bore with contiguous lip-forming grooves opening into the extrusion passage.

  • Patent number: 4052087
Abstract: A rigid, generally rectangular seat has front and rear leg assemblies pivotally connected thereto, so that the seat can be folded upwardly toward the rear leg assembly, and the front leg assembly can be folded beneath the seat. A pair of L-shaped arms is pivotally mounted on the rear leg assembly, one on each side, and the lower ends of the generally vertical portions of said arms are alignable with the front leg assembly when the chair is erect, and carry locking means thereon engageable with a locking means carried by the upper ends of the front legs. The L-shaped arms hold the chair in its erect position, but either can be released and swung aside to allow sideways movement of a person entering or leaving the seat.

  • Patent number: 4049293
Abstract: An automobile seat belt has a security release mechanism producing automatic opening of the belt after a given delay following an impact. Ends of the belt carry an attachment locked in a slot by two balls held in an opening of the attachment by retractable pins. Retraction of the pins to free the balls and hence the belt is controlled by a clockwork triggered by a spring when the belt tension exceeds a given value.

  • Patent number: 4046161
Abstract: A non-return valve comprising: a pipe for waste waters having a passageway for draining the waters in a downstream direction, a circular seat having a given diameter transversely disposed in said pipe and a housing opening into the passageway directly downstream and laterally with respect to the seat. The housing has an upper wall provided with a guiding strip transversely disposed with respect to the pipe and leaning in the upstream direction. A shutting ball, having a specific gravity lower than the specific gravity of the sullage and a diameter larger than the diameter of the seat is connected with the guiding strip so that the shutting ball can be brought to seat on the seat by floating on the waters in the case of an inopportune upstream back flow and be held into the housing when the waters are flowing in the normal direction.

  • Patent number: 4030193
Abstract: A haircutting machine by which a haircut may be performed without need of help from another person or a hairdresser in executing the work. The haircut is attained with the use of the machine, which consists of an oblong metallic plate ending in a handle, that has on each side a series of comb teeth specially formed in various shapes and lengths of teeth. The machine can be adjusted for haircutting in various depths, or to the respective shape of the scalp or any other hairy part of the human body. The possibility of adjusting the machine, as the case may be, can be further regulated by increasing or decreasing the distance between the cutting edge of the blade and the tip of the teeth by a proportionate transposition of the cutting blade along the comb's teeth by attaching the cutting blade on a moving bearer that can be slid along the comb's teeth and also can be fixed at the desired position.
