Abstract: A coating composition for the protection of graphite electrodes comprising a water dispersion of the following ingredients based on total solids: 35 to 65 percent oxide-coated particulate silicon, 15 to 40 percent colloidal silica, 2 to 10 percent powdered carbon and 5 to 20 percent ground glass.
