  • Patent number: 4863404
Abstract: A jet propulsion system is provided for ships. Port and starboard ductways are provided with radial constrictor axial-flow impellers, and the output flow therefrom is divided between hull-bottom and hull-side discharge outlets. A stabilizer system is provided comprising pivotal deflectors in the hull-side jet outlets and means to automatically control these deflectors responsive to both rate of roll and angle of roll to counteract rolling of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4715185
Abstract: Multi-stage extraction steam is taken at varying pressures from a mixed pressure turbine and sequentially charged into closed path conveyor compartments to progressively increase the pressure of steam within the compartments. The highest pressure stage of extraction steam is then used to displace the steam from the compartments through a reheater and back to an injection station at the turbine, thereby repressurizing and reheating effluent turbine steam and returning it to the turbine for reuse without incurring the heat losses of condensation.

  • Patent number: 4593215
Abstract: Rotary devices comprising rotor and stator elements are provided with rotational energy by an adaptation of the principle of the polyphase induction motor. Divided stator windings are provided to enable the rotary device to induce essential currents in the rotor windings without the production of undesirable and destructive currents in the rotary element proper.

  • Patent number: 4486343
Abstract: Wheat protein is conditioned for solubilization by first dispersing it in water at a temperature of about 5.degree.-35.degree. C. and a concentration of about 2-20% and then by acidifying the dispersion to a pH of 0.5-3.0. The acidified dispersion is then solubilized by effectively heating it to from about 70.degree. C. for from about 65 minutes to about 4 hours to about 120.degree. C. for from about 30 seconds to about 5 minutes.Acid-solubilized wheat proteinate in solution is precipitated by adjustment of the pH of the solution to its isoelectric point. The acid condition of the wheat proteinate solution is employed to acidulate fluid skim milk and form a caseinate-wheat proteinate co-precipitate.
