  • Patent number: 4760191
Abstract: The invention is the preparation of bis(4-halophenyl)phenylphosphine oxide from phenylphosphorus dihalide by a method wherein the dihalide is reacted with 4-halophenyl magnesium to produce the phosphine which is oxidized using alcohol in the presence of a halocarbon solvent to produce the phosphine oxide product of this invention.

  • Patent number: 4422879
Abstract: An improved inversion process for the preparation of a paper sizing agent which is an aqueous dispersion containing a high content of free rosin in the form of fortified rosin and/or non-fortified rosin, water, and an anionic dispersing agent is disclosed. The improvement comprises using as the dispersing agent a polyethoxylated, sulfated rosin or a derivative thereof. There is also disclosed an aqueous dispersion useful as a paper sizing agent comprising from about 10 to about 60% of fortified and/or non-fortified rosin, from about 1 to about 10% of a polyethoxylated, sulfated rosin or a derivative thereof, based on the total weight of all solids in the dispersion, and a sufficient amount of water to form a dispersion.

  • Patent number: 4313734
Abstract: A method, test kit and labeled component for the detection and/or determination of one or more components of the reaction between a specific binding protein and the corresponding bindable substance, in which one or more labelled components are used, that are obtained by coupling particles of a dispersion of a metal, metal compound or polymer nuclei, coated with a metal or metal compound, having a particle size of at least 5 nm, directly or indirectly to the desired component of said reaction.During the reaction or after an adequate reaction time, the physical properties and/or the amount of the metal and/or the formed metal containing agglomerate, is/are determined in the test sample, or optionally after a separation of the bound and free metal-labelled components in one of the derived fractions by methods known as known by those skilled in the immunoassay field.
