  • Patent number: 7038423
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for controlling ride through of an induction motor by detecting a power loss from a power supply connected to the induction motor, disconnecting the induction motor from the power supply, monitoring a line voltage of the power supply, monitoring a back emf voltage generated by the induction motor and monitoring a phase differential between the line voltage and the back emf voltage. It is determined whether the monitored voltages are within a predetermined voltage limit and the phase differential is within a predetermined phase limit and the power supply is re-connected to the induction motor in response to the monitored voltages being within the predetermined voltage limit and the monitored phase differential being within the predetermined phase limit.

  • Patent number: 6985221
Abstract: A method for measuring the wall thickness of plastic containers (16) during a container manufacturing process includes providing a plastic container (16), the plastic container (16) having a longitudinal axis and at least two side walls spaced radially from the longitudinal axis. The side walls are formed of a material that absorbs light energy in a predetermined molecular absorption band. Light energy is then directed from a source unit (32) through the at least two side walls of the plastic container (16) in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of the plastic container (16). A portion of the light energy that passes through the sidewalls of the container (16) is sensed by a sensor (34), and a signal representing a thickness of the sidewalls of the plastic container is generated from the sensed portion of the energy by a computer (56).

  • Patent number: 6910588
Abstract: A machine for the processing of minerals using a gravitational method, which can be used in ore and coal mining as well as in other industries. The machine has a unit for loading material to be processed, a unit for unloading the products processed, a drive, a unit for delivering working medium, elastic elements, a box with jigging sieve and tub with working medium connected between each other by rigid mobile elements and supports. The design of the machine provides stability and intensification of jigging process. Besides, there is a considerable decrease of energy consumption and simplicity in the design. A pilot sample of the machine has been made, and testing showed good technological results of processing and proved its high reliability productivity.

  • Patent number: 6889845
Abstract: A jigger for the processing of minerals such as coal, consisting of two traveling troughs, the upper trough being equipped with a sieve and closed from below by a continuous flexible membrane, the lower trough interrelating with the diaphragm of the upper trough, acting as a piston and giving water vertical pulsation. The troughs are linked to each other via double-arm levers, hinged in the supports. The double-arm levers together with the troughs form a system of hinged parallelograms, providing uniform distribution of pulsations along the whole capacity of the upper trough that produces conditions for the intensification of the jigging process. Besides this intensification, decreasing of energy-consumption and simplicity of design having been achieved. A laboratory sample was made and its testing showed good technological results and confirmed the reliability of a unit simple in manufacturing, operating and maintenance.

  • Patent number: 6837263
Abstract: A liquid level control system including a tank; a source of liquid in communication with the tank; a pressure fluid actuated valve for controlling the flow of liquid to the tank from the source; a pressure sensor disposed in the tank to monitor the hydrostatic pressure determined by the quantity of liquid in the tank. A source of pressure fluid is provided which is normally vented to the atmosphere. A pressure fluid amplifier is coupled to the pressure fluid actuated valve and to the source of pressure fluid. When the pressure sensor sensed an increase of pressure caused by an increase in the liquid level in the tank, the pressure fluid amplifier is effective to actuate the valve to close and militate against flowing into the tank to maintain the liquid at a predetermined level.

  • Patent number: 6838967
Abstract: A support surface that utilizes repulsive forces of opposing magnetic fields is described. In preferred embodiments, the support apparatus includes first and second frame members having first and second pluralities of magnets disposed thereon. The pluralities of magnets are oriented such that the first plurality of magnets produces a magnetic field having an orientation that opposes the magnetic fields of the magnets of the second plurality. The first and second frame members interact such that they maintain a substantially static lateral position relative to each other despite the repulsive forces of the opposing magnetic fields. A support member, such as a cushion member, is disposed adjacent one of the frame members, and can be connected thereto. A covering can surround the entire assembly. In particularly preferred embodiments, the frame members have dimensions similar to those of conventional mattresses, and the cover confers the appearance of a conventional mattress onto the support apparatus.
