Abstract: A sheet cover for a bicycle wheel is provided consisting of two "half-moon" or approximately semi-circular sheets coated on one side with removable adhesive. The sheet material is stretched to reach beyond the rim of the bicycle wheel and adhered to the lateral surface of the rim by pressing the sheet against the rim. The wheel cover or sheet actually consists of two pieces which extend slightly beyond the center line so that they overlap. To avoid interference with the continued action of the brake shoes which are designed to press against the rim of the wheel for braking action, a box-like protector piece of drawn aluminum or other suitable material is fitted over the brake shoe which, being composed of a rubber-like material, would otherwise tend to tear the wheel cover. The half-moon pieces may be of different colors for decorative effect and may carry a printed advertising or identifying message.
Abstract: A flow-sensing system is provided which employs a pair of sensing resistors. One of the resistors is disposed within flowing fluid, while the other is shielded from the flow. The sensor resistances are held constant by identical feedback circuits which maintain the relationship between current values in the sensors for this purpose. The required difference in currents in the two resistors enables fluid flow to be computed.Input and output temperature sensors are provided to enable temperature difference to be measured and combined with fluid-flow to indicate the rates of BTU flow. One temperature sensor and the fluid-flow sensors constitute an assembly miniaturized in a solid state chip.
Abstract: One solute is selectively filtered from a mixture of solutes by making use of the difference between the magnetic susceptibilities of the solutes.Fluid streams of the substances to be filtered are subjected to intense magnetic field gradients to effect the separation or filtration. At points of high magnetic gradient or intense magnetic field, the substance of greater magnetic susceptibility, or the paramagnetic substance distinguished from a non-paramagnetic substance, is deflected laterally through a path of variable resistance to flow so that it separates from non-paramagnetic substance.
Abstract: A protector for roof spouting or eavestroughs is formed from lengths of dark, sun-heat-absorbing plastic, secured with one edge under the lowermost shingles of a roof and the other edge overhanging the lip of the spouting and secured thereto by fastener strips fitting under the spouting lip.
Abstract: A hide or skin painting is produced by removing the hair in areas of a buffalo hide with a special curved edge cutting tool having changing radius of curvature, leaving areas of the skin with hair intact, applying acrylic pigment to the bare skin from which hair has been removed, and mounting the painted hide in a rectangular wooden frame by thongs.
