Abstract: An apparatus for emitting a chemical agent includes a supply of the chemical agent, an emanator from which the chemical agent can diffuse, means for transporting the chemical agent from the supply to the emanator, means for interrupting the transportation of the chemical agent from the supply to the emanator and means for providing a flow of air over the emanator to promote diffusion of the chemical agent from the emanator. The supply of the chemical agent, the emanator, the means for transporting the chemical agent and the means for interrupting the transportation of the chemical agent may be provided in the form of an integral replaceable cartridge.

Abstract: A volatile substance dispenser is provided which provides an indication of the dissipation of a quantity of volatile substance by changing an electrical signal level after a time duration corresponding to an expected period time for the quantity of volatile substance to disseminate. A heat source causes the volatile substance to disseminate into the atmosphere. Dissipation of the volatile substance is indicated. For example, dissipation may be indicated by a light bulb burning out where the light bulb is a limited duration bulb with a lifetime that corresponds to the quantity of volatile substance. The dispenser may be disposable and may also serve as a night light.

Abstract: A pine oil type cleaning concentrate composition comprising as essential constituents: pine oil, one or more pine oil solubilizing agents, cationic surfactant, anionic surfactant, a surfactant compatibilizing agent, and water. Compositions according to the invention feature reduced levels of volatile organic contents, including reduced amounts of pine oil, yet provide good blooming characteristics upon mixing of the concentrate composition with a further amount of water to produce a cleaning composition therefrom. The pine oil cleaning compositions may further include conventional additives, including germicidal agents, viscosity modification agents, fragrances (natural or synthetically produced), foaming agents, detersive agent, co-surfactants, and coloring agents.

Abstract: A thickened composition comprises:(a) an active cleaning component, present in a cleaning effective amount; and(b) a thickening system comprising an alkali metal salt of an N-alkyl-N-acyl amino acid and a mixture of myristyl/cetyl dimethyl amine oxides. In a preferred embodiment, the cleaning composition comprises an alkali metal hypochlorite and a strong base comprising an alkali metal hydroxide and an alkali metal silicate. The thickened compositions are useful as hard surface cleaners and particularly useful as drain opening compositions.

Abstract: A skin antiseptic and hand disinfectant composition is disclosed. The composition comprises a glycerol monoalkyl ether is a glycerol 1-C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 alkyl ether and an aliphatic C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl alcohol.

Abstract: The invention relates to a disinfectant concentrate which contains amine and alcohol wherein the alcohol component includes at least one glycol ether of limited miscibility with water and the amine component includes at least one secondary and/or tertiary alkyl amine free from hydroxyl groups. It also relates to a disinfectant producabile from the disinfectant concentrate, the use of the disinfectant concentrate and of the disinfectant as bactericide, in particular mycobactericide, fungicide or virucide.

Abstract: Thickened aqueous hypochlorite compositions comprises (a) an alkali metal hypochlorite, (b) a tertiary amine oxide with one alkyl group having from 10 to 16 carbon atoms and the two other alkyl groups having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, (c) an alkali metal salt, (d) a pH stabilizer to bring the pH to a level of 11 or higher, (e) a C.sub.10 -C.sub.16 alkali metal sarcosinate, and (f) C.sub.10 -C.sub.14 straight chain alkyl benzene sulfonate. The molar ratio of (b):(f) is from about 5:1 to about 11:1 and is adjusted so that the viscosity of the composition is between 231 and 402 cps. The compositions are useful for general cleaning purposes, particularly bathrooms and toilet bowls, and also as a laundry additive.

Abstract: A polymer having antimicrobial properties derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers characterized in that the polymer has a phenolic antimicrobial agent covalently bound thereto. The polymer may be used as a sanitizing agent in a sanitizing composition comprising a solvent having a sanitizing agent dissolved or dispersed therein.

Abstract: A synergistic cleaning composition has been discovered comprising an aqueous solution a quaternary ammonium compound component; a nonionic surfactant component; and a glycol ether solvent. Surprisingly, the combination of the quaternary ammonium compound component, the nonionic surfactant component, and glycol ether solvent provides a synergistic effect where the cleaning composition functions with a low level of quaternary ammonium compound component while still maintaining at least one of the following desirable properties, as follows: an acceptable cleaning efficacy; a low level irritation or toxicity profile; and/or a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity.

Abstract: Deodorant compositions comprise glycerin monoalkyl ethers of the formula ##STR1## in which R is a branched or unbranched C.sub.6 -C.sub.18 alkyl in combination with other deodorant ingredients. Preferably R is C.sub.8 to C.sub.12 alkyl; more particularly, C.sub.8 alkyl; and most preferably, 2-ethylhexyl.
