  • Patent number: 4342496
Abstract: A connector for a cable having an inner element. The connector includes a support member having a cable-receiving opening at one end thereof. The support member has a passageway extending therethrough which communicates with the cable-receiving opening. The connector also includes a terminating member disposed within the passageway in the support member. The terminating member has an inner element-receiving opening at one end thereof which communicates with the cable-receiving opening. The connector further includes means for securing the inner element within the inner element-receiving opening in the terminating member. The securing means is adapted to freely admit the inner element into the inner element-receiving opening upon initial insertion of the cable into the cable-receiving opening in the support member.

  • Patent number: 4335384
Abstract: A logarithmic amplifier calibrator having a signal generator providing an exponentially decaying calibration signal and a pulse generator providing a sample pulse each time the calibration signal has decayed by a predetermined decibel (db) increment. More specifically, the calibrator includes a crystal which is excited to an energy level through a feedback loop having an amplification means whose gain is controlled by a voltage controlled attenuator. The decay characteristics of the crystal when installed in the calibrator are determined so that the time required for the crystal to decay over an entire calibration range is known. This time is then divided into a plurality of time increments, each time increment corresponding to a predetermined db drop in the calibration signal. Sample pulses derived from a high frequency, high stability oscillator in the calibrator are developed to correspond to each of the predetermined time increments.

  • Patent number: 4322121
Abstract: The invention relates to screw-coupled electrical connectors. It is known to provide screw-coupled electrical connectors with means for providing an indication of the fact that the two parts are approaching or have reached the fully mated condition and for resisting subsequent rotation of the coupling sleeve in the uncoupling direction. However, this has been accomplished only with complex and expensive mechanisms such as movable balls mounted in a flange on the first connector part and a series of holes in a flange on the coupling sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4187481
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) filter connector which can be installed in the line between mating plugs and sockets normally used for terminating multiple conductors. This connector is used in an electronic equipment chassis or at a bulkhead junction box or, if necessary, between mating connectors in a cable run, where the metallic parts of the cable connector can be grounded. Conductive rubber or co-polymer elastometric washers are used to protect RF filter components in the connector from damage due to external stress. A high degree of EMI attenuation is provided by an integral metallic baffle having close fitting conductor holes which is located within the connector body.

  • Patent number: 4131330
Abstract: A mounting device for electrical connectors is molded in one piece to provide functions of supporting longitudinally elongated electrical connectors of a first type, for supporting electrical connector units of a second type having contact members arranged for gang connection, and for housing electrical wiring therebetween. The one-piece device includes a raised rectangular mounting platform. The mounting platform includes integral formed upper and lower sections. The upper section includes means for supporting the connectors of the first type and means for defining a protective housing for wiring to the first type connectors and for protecting the wiring from abrasion from and contact with a building wall. The lower transverse side is open to permit the wiring to extend toward the lower section. An indented pocket, contains a key hole aperture to facilitate engagement with a mounting bolt on the building wall.

  • Patent number: 4087148
Abstract: An electrical connector with zero insertion force for mechanically supporting and contacting the conductive fingers of printed circuit boards, liquid crystal plates, and like contact carriers. The connector is comprised of an elongated connector body, an elongated clamping member, and a clamping means to clamp the body and member toward one another with the contact carrier sandwiched therebetween. In a preferred embodiment, the connector body contains a plurality of electrical spring contacts, a portion of each contact extending slightly beyond one lateral sidewall of the body and positioned to contact one of the fingers of the contact carrier when the latter lies adjacent the sidewall. The clamping means serves to draw the body and member toward one another, thereby effecting movement of the contact carrier against the biasing force of the spring contacts and into a surface-to-surface engagement with the sidewall of the body.

  • Patent number: 3999405
Abstract: Rotating baffle supported from below substantially closes opening at knitting level of tubular fabric produced by circular pile fabric knitting machine, and deflects air jet carrying stray fiber up toward exhaust intake above machine. Secondary rotating baffle at lower level further reduces movement of air with entrained fiber into tubular fabric, and carries stop motion ring. Rotation of the ring with the goods minimizes skewing at the tube slitting point.

  • Patent number: 3959868
Abstract: A tool for controlled, uniform insertion of insulated conductors into insulation piercing contacts in an electrical connector unit includes a holding lug to engage the conductor and apply a holding pressure adjacent the free end of the conductor in one end of a terminal element channel of a contact member, an insertion blade for pressing the conductor into an insulation piercing notch of the terminal element, and an insertion guide to engage the conductor at a point immediately beyond the strain relief retainer of the connector unit and guide the conductor into the strain relief retainer. In one embodiment the tool is part of an adapter which becomes anchored to and remains as a part of the connector unit.
