    Abstract: A comminuting plant is equipped with a comminuting machine for the coarse comminution of bulky material, and a granulating machine for the fine granulation of the precomminuting material from the comminuting machine. The comminuting machine includes at least two parallel shafts having several rotary bodies arranged on each shaft to provide cutting disks. Between the cutting disks in each case, there are arranged separate spacers. The spacers are smaller in diameter than the cutting disks, and turn with the shafts in such a way that the cutting disks of adjacent shafts cooperate, as the cutting disks touch each other in rotation, at least intermittently in the zone of their facing cutting edges. The circumferential surfaces of the spacers provide interspaces for the passage of the comminution material.

    Abstract: A protective box for providing a secure covering for a closure device, such as a lock, bolt, or the like. The protective box includes a housing having a rear wall which has an opening therein for access to the closure device to be protected. The rear wall is securely fastened onto the support surface containing the closure device, such as onto a door or wall supporting a lock. A cover member closes the front of the housing and is slidable between a closed position providing an enclosed area within the housing into which the closure device can face, and an open position whereby access can be had to the closure device. A lock mounted on the cover member engages with a roller assembly provided in the housing to securely retain the cover member in its closed position. In a modified form, two locks can be mounted on the cover member for engagement with associated latching elements disposed on the housing.

    Abstract: A face plate for an electrical outlet which provides a safety covering for the socket receptacles. The face plate includes a base member which has an outer shell that can be positioned over the electrical outlet. A recessed compartment is located within the outer shell. A bottom wall of the recessed compartment has a pair of socket openings which can be aligned with a duplex socket receptacle of the electrical outlet. A removable insert member is snap-fit into the recessed compartment, and in conjunction with the outer shell forms a flush surface. The insert member includes a pair of covers which can be selectively opened in order to uncover each one of the socket openings. Cooperating portions on the base member and the insert member securely retain the insert member in the recessed compartment. Both the base member and the insert member are symmetrically formed so as to be reversably positionable with respect to each other.

    Abstract: A traction pad for use with vehicle tires on slippery road surfaces, the pad having a rectangular plastic mat portion with one end provided with a wedge shape. The tire facing surface of the mat, including the wedge portion, is provided with groups of substantially conically shaped projections. The opposite road facing surface of the mat portion is provided with like projections, with the wedge portion of the road facing surface being provided with longitudinal ribs. The size of the conical projections within each group is uniform, with one group size being larger than an adjacent group, the larger group being further from the wedge portion. A cooperating metallic starter plate is disposed on the wedge portions, being bent over the one end so that the conical projections on the wedge portion of the tire facing surface extend into openings in one side of the plate, and the ribs on the wedge portion of the road facing surface extend between grooves in the other side of the plate.

    Abstract: A convertible finger ring including a ring band supporting a gem mount, the ring band being generally U-shaped to provide resilient arms. The gem mount is received between the arms of the ring band at the ends thereof. A pin is disposed axially through the arms and gem mount to define a pivot upon which the gem mount may be rotated relative with respect to the ring band arms to provide either a pendant or ring configuration. The abutting faces of the ring band and gem mount are provided with complimentary projections and detents so that the resilient force of the ring band arms urges them into engagement to maintain the selected configuration. A shoulder portion of the gem mount prevents axial rotation beyond the finger ring and pendant configurations.

    Abstract: A comforter having a blanket-like body member is provided with closure members for enclosing a lower portion thereof so that one lower side edge is secured to a corresponding opposite lower side edge and the bottom edge is secured together to define a sack-like robe configuration. A snap fastener is disposed at each upper corner for attachment to associated snap fasteners disposed adjacent to but slightly above the closure member on the side edges so that the upper half side edges can be held in a folded condition to provide a pair of sleeve portions on the body member, each sleeve portion having a predetermined maximum sleeve opening. At least two additional snap fasteners are disposed at intermediate positions on each upper half side edge for securement together to obtain a preselected sleeve opening smaller than the maximum sleeve opening. Preferably, several snap fasteners are disposed along the top edge of the body member for engagement therebetween to enclose the body member around the wearer's chest.

    Abstract: Parts subject to wear, which come into contact with metal melts, are formed with a hydraulically setting high-alumina refractory concrete having a compression strength when cold, measured on dried crude product, of at least 400 kp/cm.sup.2. The compression strength is at least 700 kp/cm.sup.2 after firing at 1400.degree. C. The refractory concrete has a dimensional stability at 1400.degree. C. of at least plus or minus 0.2%. The refractory concrete contains corundum and active alumina as aggregates, an alumina concrete containing less than 22% lime and, as required, a thinning agent. Up to 5% of the aggregates can be replaced by a spinel-forming substance preferably MgO or MgO-yielding compounds; or up to 5% of the aggregates can be replaced by carbon black, pitch or graphite; or up to 7% of the aggregates can be replaced by chromium oxide. Aggregates under 0.5 mm can be present in the refractory concrete as round grains.

A second similar arrangement is spaced downwardly on the head portion, where additional arrangements may be provided on the shank downwardly along the head portion as desired to provide a series of locations for driving and latching the shank in the hand piece.

    Abstract: A dowel pin for removably mounting a dental model cast relative to a base cast, the dowel pin being a two-part structure to define a head portion and a shank portion extending therefrom, where the portions are threadedly engaged together in an axial alignment with each other. The head portion is adapted to be fixedly secured in the dental model cast so that the exposed end thereof is flush with a flat surface of the dental model cast. The shank portion is adapted to be removably insertable into a complimentary opening provided in the base cast, preferably with a sleeve member being provided in the opening to slidably receive the shank portion therein. The portions are selectively engageable and disengageable from each other whether or not the model cast is mounted upon the base cast. Accordingly, the dental model cast can easily be cut into segments after the head portion is secured therein.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for converting a uniform circular movement into a variable or uniform longitudinal movement. The device comprises being arranged an assembly of rods forming the generatrices of a right cylinder having a circular section. The rods may rotate with a constant angular speed. The rods are grooved with notches at equal or different distances between the notches, which grooves house a wire or cable, wound helicoidally on the cylindrical body established by the rods, so that upon the latter rods rotating, the cable generates a longitudinal movement in the direction of the axis of the rods. The movement is uniform on the stretches in which the grooves are equidistant, and is in such a form that if the distance between grooves varies in accordance with differential elements, the longitudinal movement is obtained whose velocities in relation to time would vary from zero to a maximum and again to zero.

A plastic hand driver is provided for receiving the shank therein, where the hand driver includes an abutment portion for rotating the shank, and projections for providing a snapped-in connection between the shank and the hand driver to permit a pivotal relationship therebetween while releasably retaining the shank within the hand driver.

    Abstract: A lock installation kit for use in installing, into a door, a dead bolt lock, a lock set with a latch, or other similar types of locks. The kit includes a hole cutter which can drill a hole entirely through a side face of the door, the hole being of a size sufficient to receive therethrough either a doorknob mechanism in the case of a lock set, or a lock cylinder in the case of a dead bolt lock. A template is also included which can be positioned over an edge of the door for locating the hole on the door side face at a predetermined distance from the door edge. In the case of a lock set with a latch, the template also locates the center of the end face of the door, and the kit then includes a wood drill for drilling a hole in the end face of the door of the size sufficient to receive therethrough the latch of the lock set. The hole cutter and template, and also the wood drill in the case of the lock set, together with appropriate instructions, are all combined with a single package.

Each of the receiving terminals has two electrically separated contact elements. One contact element from each of the two receiving terminals is interconnected to the main source of electric power. When the male plug is inserted into the socket, it electrically conducts current from the first contact element to the second contact element in each of the receiving terminals, to thereby maintain the switch in one of its two positions to prevent the alarm from being energized. However, when the plug is removed from the socket, the switch moves to its second position and the alarm is energized.
