Abstract: Apparatus for treating a fracture of a bone of a subject including an intramedullary (IM) elongate member insertable into a medullary canal of a first part of the bone of the subject, and having a proximal head defining at least one hole therethrough. A sleeve includes an engagement mechanism and is arranged to engage one of the at least one hole when the sleeve is within that hole. This engagement restricts rotational and longitudinal movement between the sleeve and the elongate member after the sleeve is engaged with that hole. A screw or pin is movably arranged inside the sleeve for securing a second part of the bone to the first part of the bone, i.e., the part into which the elongate member is inserted.

  • Patent number: 7764428
Abstract: The light beam 5a emitted from a light source Pa is formed into a parallel light beam 6a upon entering the substrate 1 as a result of the effect of lens strips 2a. The parallel light beam 6a reaches the end surface on the emission side of the substrate 1, and is there subjected to the effect of lens strips 3a so that this light beam is focused at a focal position Qa (focal point) on the rear side of the lens strips 3a. Similarly, the light beam 5b emitted from a light source Pb is subjected to the effect of lens strips 2b and is formed into a parallel light beam 6b inside the substrate 1; this light beam is then further subjected to the effect of lens strips 3b, and is therefore focused at a focal point Qb located in a position that is separated from the surface of the substrate 1 by a distance of f.

  • Patent number: 7760967
Abstract: When a first DMA unit and a second DMA unit transfer image data in a memory to be divided into units composed of a plurality of lines, a transfer number of lines for an enlargement section is controlled for each unit on the basis of a magnification of an image which has been set. Even if any magnification is set, the number of output lines of a second reduction section can always be made coincident with a number of lines specified in a JPEG encoder. In addition, there is no need for providing an additional circuit configuration such as a buffer memory in the second reduction section in order to match number of lines each other.

  • Patent number: 7760962
Abstract: A digital camera shoots a document plural times from different directions to obtain a plurality of images. An image processing device included in the digital camera corrects the keystone distortion of each image to generate an image which seems as if the document were shot from in front of it. The image processing device synthesizes the images by addition-averaging the pixel values of each pixel in the plurality of corrected images. Even if captured images are illuminated by glare from a light because a document made of glossy paper is shot, the influence of the glare is reduced by addition-averaging the pixel values of each pixel in the plurality of images.
