Abstract: The invention is directed to a multispectral illumination device for a microscope or for a reader. According to the invention, the illumination device comprises at least three receptacle positions for lighting modules and at least one receptacle position for coupling modules, the mechanical devices for connecting the lighting modules or coupling modules at the receptacle positions to the illumination device being designed in such a way that the lighting modules or coupling modules can be easily changed. Further, the receptacle positions are arranged in such a way that, with suitable selection of the lighting modules and coupling modules, all individual spectra of the lighting modules in a total spectrum are available simultaneously at the output of the illumination device.

Abstract: A lyophilization process which comprises dissolving a material in one or more solvents for said material to form a solution; forcing said material at least partially out of solution by combining the solution and a non-solvent for the material, which non-solvent is miscible with the solvent or solvents used and wherein said non-solvent is volatilizable under freeze-drying conditions. In addition, for hydrophobic and/or lipophilic materials, the anti-solvent can be omitted, and the solution of the material in the solvent can be subjected directly to freeze drying. The lyophilizates can then be reconstituted with typical aqueous diluent in the case of hydrophilic materials. Hydrophobic and or lipophilic materials can be initially reconstituted with propylene glycol and/or polyethyleneglycol to form a high concentration solution therein and this is further diluted for use with a diluent of Intralipid, plasma, serum, or even whole blood.

Abstract: A memo pad includes a stack of memo sheets, each memo sheet including an inscribing portion, a pair of supporting portions, a pair of adhering portions, and a pair of adhesive layers. The adhesive layers are applied to the bottom side of the adhering portions such that an upper one of the memo sheets is adhered releasably to a lower one in the stack. When a memo sheet is removed from the memo pad, and the adhesive layers are used to attach the adhering portions to a supporting surface, the supporting portions are disposed to support the inscribing portion such that the inscribing portion is raised relative to the supporting surface, thereby configuring the memo sheet to present a three-dimensional appearance.

Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method are directed towards managing abuse of text messages through controls on messages sent by an application to a mobile device (e.g., MT text messages). MT text messages sent from a defined application are intercepted by a Text Message SPAM Control Service (TMSCS). Various controls are determined for the sending application based on the application, level of user control on contents of the message, the user requesting the message to be sent (if any), and/or a destination address for the message. These controls may then be used in various combinations and/or various levels of constraint to determine whether to block transmission of the message to a destination mobile device. By monitoring messages from the application, abuse of the application may be minimized.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to an ophthalmologic measurement method which can depict three-dimensional structures of the interfaces of an eye by short-coherence interferometry based on reference points. For this purpose, the pupil is illuminated at a plurality of points by a short-coherence illumination source. The measurement beam reflected at these points by the interfaces and surfaces of the eye is superimposed with a reference beam. The measurement data which are generated in this way are spectrally split by a diffraction grating, imaged on a two-dimensional detector array and conveyed to a control unit which determines a three-dimensional structure of all intraocular interfaces and surfaces of the eye. In the suggested Fourier domain OCT method, the depiction of three-dimensional structures is preferably carried out by spline surfaces or polygon surfaces.

Abstract: The invention relates to a magnetic tape recording apparatus which can record digital image data sufficient to allow a good image to be displayed upon variable speed reproduction in the long time mode. When image data for variable speed reproduction (for example, sixteenfold speed reproduction) is recorded discretely at positions which are traced by a rotary head upon variable speed reproduction, in the long time mode, the number of recording times of image data for same variable speed reproduction is increased and the number of sync blocks recorded in one recording operation is decreased when compared with those in recording in the standard mode. For example, in the standard mode, six sync blocks are recorded three times, but in the long time mode, four sync blocks are recorded four times. The present invention can be applied to a recording and reproduction apparatus which displays a good image upon variable speed reproduction.

Since the averaging operation is repeated until the relation of TH_A>TH_B is satisfied, the averaging operation is stopped when the relation is satisfied. The TH_A and TH_B are decided in accordance with RSCP and ISCP of a pilot channel and RSSI of a received base band signal.

A whole picture display presents a whole panorama picture. A selective picture display presents a frame at the position designated within the whole panorama picture as a selected picture.

A calculator 904 generates foreground object components in which the amount of motion blur is adjusted by solving the simultaneous equations.
