  • Patent number: 4819467
Abstract: A computer-based control for a press brake of the type having a ram for bending a sheet metal workpiece to a desired bend angle. The control incorporates a teach mode which collects ram force and position data during the bending of one or more test workpieces and calculates from the force and position data parameters representative of the ram reversal position necessary to produce the desired bend angle. The control also incorporates a bend mode for bending a production workpiece to the desired bend angle wherein force and position data is collected during the bending of the production workpiece and is used in conjunction with the parameters calculated during the bending of the test workpieces during the teach mode to calculate the exact position of ram reversal necessary to produce the desired bend angle in the production workpiece. The control also incorporates correction of the position of ram reversal to account for ram overshoot during the bend mode.

  • Patent number: 4813721
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the inclination of a rear seat of a vehicle is described, of the type comprising an electromechanical linkage which is able to translationally move in one direction or the other the seat cushion assembly to which the back-rest is hinged, to thus vary the inclination of this latter, and first electrical control means for said linkage. The main characteristic of the present invention is that it comprises second electrical means which, when a door of the vehicle is opened, cause said cushion assembly to translate from the position which it assumed before the opening, to a withdrawn end-of-travel position in which the back-rest is lesserly inclined.

  • Patent number: 4811882
Abstract: A valve arrangement for a fastener driving tool of the type having a cylinder and piston/driver assembly for driving a fastener, a main valve which, when actuated, opens the cylinder to air under pressure causing the piston/driver assembly to drive a fastener, a remote valve which, when actuated, causes the main valve to open, and a trigger actuated valve together with a workpiece responsive safety actuated valve which, when both are actuated, actuate the remote valve, the valve arrangement being such that the safety actuated valve must be actuated before the trigger actuated valve in order for the remote valve to the actuated. The trigger actuated valve has a trigger-operated stem slidably mounted within a valve body. The body defines a chamber in which one end of the remote valve stem is slidingly and sealingly engaged. Air under pressure within the chamber maintains the remote valve stem in an unactuated position. A passage in the tool body connects the trigger actuated valve to the safety actuated valve.

  • Patent number: 4806086
Abstract: The present invention relates to an extruder head with a rotary die which requires no ball or roller bearings. A die and a mandrel rod consisting of a cable guide are fixed in a cylindrical axial bore of an intermediate rotary sleeve driven by a driving mechanism. The sleeve has a substantially cylindrical outer surface which slidingly revolves in the axial bore of a distributing cartridge. The gliding surfaces are lubrified by the hot synthetic material. A clamping nut axially maintains the intermediate sleeve and allows the leakage flow of the synthetic material to be controlled. Such an extruder head may be utilized for the fabrication of helicoidal elements of synthetic material, especially helicoidal rods for optical fibers.

  • Patent number: 4804170
Abstract: There is provided a counterbalance assembly for use in combination with a rotatable robotic arm and the like in a robotic manipulator, where the robotic arm is rotated about an axis by a torque-producing device having a relatively stationary base. The assembly further includes a torsional spring comprising a pair of concentric tubes connected to each other by rubber, with one tube connected to the arm and the other tube connected to the base. In general, any torque created by the influence of gravity acting on the robotic arm, as it is rotated, is counterpoised by torsional wind-up in the spring due to proportional resistance of the rubber to torsional shear. This spring/arm combination thereby reduces the load on the torque-producing device.

Abstract: The invention concerns an apparatus for controlled irrigation of the natural cavities and tubes of the human body. It is characterized in that it includes correcting means for equalizing the measuring signal which represents the pressure and which is emitted by a pressure gauge (10) according to the pressure losses and according to the difference of height between the area of measurement of the pressure and the intervention area which corresponds to an organ (2). These correcting means includea correcting circuit (14B) adapted to effect a correction according to said difference of heightand a correcting circuit (14C) adapted to take into account the pressure loss, namely the flow rate of the fluid injected through the inner duct (6) of the endoscope (1) and the cross section of this duct.

  • Patent number: 4795360
Abstract: Mateable receptacle and plug assemblies comprising a cable connector for use in a nuclear environment. The receptacle assembly and the plug assembly comprise mateable metallic shells, each surrounding one or more cable ends terminating in contacts. The contacts of the receptacle assembly and the plug assembly are equal in number and mateable. In each of the receptacle assembly and the plug assembly, the space between the shell and the cable ends and their contacts is filled with one or more heat, steam and radiation resistant insulative elastomeric compounds and/or epoxy compounds to prevent hosing of steam and moisture through the cables. The inside surfaces of the shells are uniquely configured to enhance bonding thereof to the insulative compounds, providing baffles creating pressure drops should the bond fail. O-rings are mounted on the plug assembly shell which cooperate with the receptacle assembly shell to form compression and butt seals to prevent leakage through the shell faces.
