Abstract: A fan system comprises a hub, a plurality of fan blades, a drive system, and a stationary tube. The hub is configured to rotate. The fan blades are mounted to the hub. The drive system comprises a rotatable hollow output shaft. The hollow output shaft is in communication with the hub, such that the drive system is operable to rotate the hub via the hollow output shaft. The stationary tube is inserted through the hollow output shaft. The stationary tube is configured to remain stationary as the hollow output shaft rotates. Wires and the like may be passed through the stationary tube, to reach an accessory mounted at the bottom of the stationary tube. The fan system may also include a detector, such as a heat detector, a smoke detector, or an accelerometer. The detector may power down the fan system in response to detecting certain conditions.

Abstract: A cover (5) includes a first bent portion (5b) and a second bent portion (5c) which are provided in series to be continuous with a lid portion (5a). A casing (2) includes a hole (8) through which the cover is allowed to be inserted/removed and movably inserted into/removed from the casing, and includes a cover locking portion (9) to which the cover is locked in a substantially upright posture while covering an opening portion (4) with the lid portion. The cover can pivot in a fore-and-aft direction at a corner portion (5d) on an inner side of the first bent portion with an inner edge portion (8c) at an intersection between an upper inner wall surface (8a) of the hole and an inner wall surface (3a) of a front wall as a fulcrum. The cover can be displaced between the substantially upright posture and a substantially laid posture.
Abstract: A fan comprises a hub, a plurality of fan blades, and a plurality of interface components. Each interface component is configured to mount at the first end of a corresponding fan blade. Each interface component is further configured to simultaneously engage an outer surface of the hub and the first end of the fan blade. For instance, the outer surface of the hub may be curved, and a hub-engaging edge of each interface component may be complementarily curved to provide a substantially continuous fit between the hub-engaging edge of each interface component and the curved outer surface of the hub. Each interface component may further comprise a resilient member configured to resiliently bear against the first end of a corresponding fan blade. In addition, each interface component may further comprise a sleeve configured to extend along a portion of the length of a corresponding fan blade.
Abstract: A method allows for rapid manufacture of relatively thick adhesive coatings using a continuous process, where a single thin coating is continuously converted into a single thicker adhesive laminate. An exemplary process includes the steps of: (1) producing a web having a first surface with an adhesive layer and a second surface with a release liner; (2) slitting the web longitudinally into a first section and a second section, (3) laminating a backing film to the adhesive layer of the first section; (4) removing the release liner of the laminate of step (3) exposing the adhesive layer of the first section; and (5) laminating the second section to the laminate of step (4), wherein the adhesive layer of the laminate of step (4) is combined with the adhesive layer of the second section.
Abstract: An e-Care dispenser is disclosed herein which configures a set of devices to cooperatively process care requests by utilizing functional aspects distributed throughout those devices. The devices can be end user devices with varying capabilities, some of which might not possess resources to process the care request independently. The functional aspects can be distributed throughout the devices in such a manner as to efficiently utilize the devices in providing care.

Abstract: A mixture of zirconium hydroxides or zirconium basic carbonate with vanadium oxide (V205) co-reacts in high temperature aqueous slurry to form respectively an amorphous material, believed to be based on a zirconium analog of a zeolite structure, and a solid solution of zirconium oxide with vanadium oxide. The subject compositions, free of hexavalent chromium, are highly effective in providing blister-free corrosion prevention in typical coil and aerospace grade epoxy primer and color coat combinations.
Abstract: The automatic selection of interfaces can result in the optimization of interaction between entities. Such selection of interfaces can be applied specifically in the context of interactive voice response systems, and can allow the interface presented to a caller to be optimized based on factors including the caller's usage of the system.
Abstract: Intraocular lenses containing a photochromic agent, are disclosed. Specifically, the foldable intraocular lens of the present invention comprises an optic body made from a crosslinked material comprising at least one monomer, a crosslinker, a UV absorber, and a photochromic agent which has a maximum absorption peak of about 400-500 nm in its excited state. The lens has a glass transition temperature of about 37° C. or lower. Methods for making these intraocular lenses are also taught.

Abstract: A fuse barrel component handling device is configured to engage and support both load break and non-load break fuse barrel components. The fuse barrel component handling device includes a hollow cavity capable of receiving a portion of a fuse barrel. In addition, the handling device has a projection bar, which may be integral with or attached to the device, and at least two slots and a notch within the wall of the device. The projection bar, at least two slots, and notch receive and support a fuse barrel component, e.g. a pull ring of a non-load break component or a hook member of a load-break component. The fuse barrel component handling device may be used with a hot stick to remove and/or install a fuse barrel.
Abstract: A system and method for minimizing compensation rope sway by altering the natural frequency of compensation ropes using servo actuators. The rope sway may be minimized by moving the compensation sheave to adjust the tension of the compensation rope or adjusting the position of the termination of a compensation rope to account for changes in the position of a structure. Servo actuators may also be used to re-level the elevator car to account for rope stretch.

Abstract: A fan system includes a fan and a fan rotation speed control. The speed control is operable to command the fan to rotate at a speed selected from a certain range of rotation speeds. A fan oscillation detector may be coupled with the fan to detect oscillation of the fan as the speed control is operated to rotate the fan at various speeds among the range of fan rotation speeds. The fan oscillation detector may comprise an accelerometer or other device. Oscillation amounts detected by the oscillation detector are compared against each other or against an oscillation threshold value. A programmer device identifies fan rotation speeds at which the oscillation amount exceeds the threshold or is otherwise unacceptable, and programs the fan rotation speed control to prevent an operator from being able to select those speeds at which the oscillation amount exceeds the threshold or is otherwise unacceptable.
Abstract: A system and method provide a way of improving customer satisfaction with an IVR by identifying tuning opportunities for applications of an IVR system based on customer satisfaction scores. The system and method compare portions of the IVR application to a customer satisfaction score obtained from a customer satisfaction survey. The comparisons show, statistically, which portions of the IVR application correlate to a low customer satisfaction score. A report is produced which identifies these areas that correlate to low customer satisfaction, and these areas may be tuned to improve customer satisfaction with the IVR.
