  • Patent number: 4790315
Abstract: Perfusion dilatation catheter and method of manufacturing the same. The catheter has an elongated flexible shaft with an inflatable balloon mounted near the distal end of the shaft. A first lumen in the shaft communicates with the balloon for inflating and deflating the balloon. A second lumen extends between the proximal and distal ends of the shaft and is adapted to receive a guide wire. Openings formed in the side wall of the shaft on the proximal and distal sides of the balloon communicate with the second lumen to provide a path for blood to flow past the balloon when it is inflated.

  • Patent number: 4788836
Abstract: A tamper proof hasp apparatus for use with a conventional padlock incorporating a U-shaped attached shackle pivotable, when unlocked, about a shackle pivot leg. The apparatus includes first and second hasps incorporating respective first and second hasp plates, each formed on one end with a slot for receipt laterally thereinto of the pivot leg of the shackle and formed on the opposite end with bores for receiving the closure leg of such shackle. A spacer tongue projects from such one end of one of the hasp plates to engage one end of such body and maintain such one end spaced from the plates a distance sufficient to limit travel of such shackle relative to such hasp plates. The respective hasps are formed with guard plates projecting laterally of the hasp plates to restrict access to such shackle by tampering tools such as bolt cutters, hacksaws and the like.

  • Patent number: 4787457
Abstract: A method and apparatus for rotating a portion or segment of a casing string in a relatively highly deflected well bore. A straight well bore portion is provided adjacent the completion interval, beyond the deflected portion. A casing string is made up with a segment connected by a swivel to the remainder of the string. This segment is located in the straight portion of the bore. A drill string is lowered into the casing into engagment with a rotatable swivel portion fixed to the casing segment. The drill string is rotated to rotate the casing segment independently of the remainder of the casing string. This facilitates removal of excess mud cake from the annulus adjacent the casing segment, and also placement of cement in the annulus.

  • Patent number: 4784212
Abstract: A microprocessor-based perimeter thermal energy control system regulates heating and cooling in the perimeter area of a building in accordance with instantaneous and integrated heat flow measurements and instantaneous temperature deviation measurements. Control of heat pumps and air conditioning units is provided as is automatic switching between heating and cooling. The inherent thermal parameters of the space are inductively determined and used by the system to continually self-adapt to the heat flow properties of the space. The gain of the heat flow based control system is varied automatically as a function of the deviation between the actual space temperature and the desired set point temperature. Morning recovery is initiated and regulated in response to instantaneous and integrated heat flow measurements and inductively determined thermal space parameters and produces a near linear stepwise change in the temperature of the space from night setback to occupancy temperature.

  • Patent number: 4777333
Abstract: A rocker switch incorporating a sliding contact that provides both the detent action and high current capacity desirable in such switches. The sliding contact is in the shape of a shoe with an essentially inverted wedge shape in which the angle of the wedge is an obtuse angle with its apex pointed away from the rocker. The sliding of this shoe-like contact across electrical contacts in the bottom of the switch creates the switching action.

  • Patent number: 4775341
Abstract: Water directing apparatus for the jet pump inlet of a watercraft having a planing surface within which the inlet is formed. The apparatus is carried by the planing surface and includes a pair of laterally spaced apart, longitudinally extending side fins projecting downwardly of the planing surface. Curvilinear, transversely disposed upstream and downstream vanes are oriented to direct water into the inlet, the angles of attack of the vanes being established to direct boundary layer water into the inlet without separation. The vane combination achieves water flow directional change with minimum drag and flow separation. An embodiment is disclosed employing a vane movable in response to inlet passage pressure.

  • Patent number: 4775371
Abstract: Stiffened dilation catheter and method of manufacturing the same. The catheter has a relatively stiff proximal end portion formed by bonding a relatively stiff tubular member coaxially within the proximal end portion of a relatively soft outer tubular member. The outer tubular member has a distensible portion which forms an inflatable balloon. An inner tubular member or shaft having an axial lumen adapted to receive a guide wire is positioned coaxially within the other tubular members. The distal end portions of the inner and outer tubular members are sealed together to close the distal end of the balloon, and an annular passageway for inflating and deflating the balloon is formed between the outer wall of the inner member and the inner wall of the stiffened proximal end portion of the outer tubular member. The relative wall thicknesses of the inner and outer tubular members can be varied to provide any desired stiffness or profile of stiffness along the length of the catheter.

  • Patent number: 4771485
Abstract: A faucet fixture for mounting over the faucet opening in sink structure and including a valve body capable of being pulled upwardly of the faucet fixture housing to an elevated position for inspection or maintenance. The faucet fixture includes an upper mounting plate having a threaded central bore for receiving a threaded sleeve for securement of the plate and sleeve to the sink structure. The valve body is removably secured to the mounting plate, and a potable water conduit attached to the valve body extends slidably through the sleeve for distance at least equal to the height of the housing which supports the valve body in position so that the valve body can be inspected. In one embodiment the sleeve also slidably accommodates inlet and outlet waste water conduits associated with a reverse osmosis unit so that an airgap arrangement attached to the valve body can be raised and inspected by sliding the three conduits upwardly through the sleeve.
