  • Patent number: 6246421
Abstract: A two-dimensional image coordinate system is divided into areas each composed of N pixels in a first direction and M pixels in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. Variations of rendering data for pixels are calculated with respect to the first and second directions and are used for interpolating values of the rendering data for each pixel from predetermined apex data of a predetermined graphic. An initial value of the rendering data on the side of the predetermined graphic is calculated using the value of a predetermined apex and the variation of the rendering data with respect to the first direction. First N×M rendering data is calculated using the initial value and the variations of the rendering data. Other N×M rendering data is calculated based on the variations of the rendering data with respect to the first direction and the second direction.

  • Patent number: 6214038
Abstract: Graft having a bifurcation for repairing an aneurysm in the vicinity of an aortic bifurcation in a patient comprising a main tubular body and first and second tubular legs joined to said main body in a bifurcation. The main body and the legs are formed of a flexible surgically implantable material. The main body and each of the first and second legs having an opening therein in communication with the other openings. Expandable spring attachments are secured to the main body adjacent the opening in the main body. An additional expandable spring attachment is secured to one of said legs adjacent the opening in said one leg.

  • Patent number: 6151033
Abstract: An animation data producing system having a key frame management unit for managing key frame data to form pictures of key frames having principal changes of motion in an animation of plural frames and obtained by laying out component elements of the animation in a three-dimensional space; and a data interpolation unit for forming, by interpolation for each component element, picture data for the frames required between two adjacent key frames by using the key frame data obtained from the key frame management unit. The data interpolation unit includes a rotation angle calculator means, wherein, when the process of interpolating the component element relates to a rotation thereof around a single axis, the rotation angle in the frame for interpolation is calculated while the component element is considered to be rotated around an arbitrary axis between the key frames anterior and posterior to the relevant frame to be obtained by interpolation.

  • Patent number: 6069689
Abstract: Apparatus for diagnosis of a skin disease site using spectral analysis includes a light source for generating light to illuminate the disease site and a probe unit optically connected to the light source for exposing the disease site to light to generate fluorescence and reflectance light. The probe unit also collects the generated fluorescence and reflectance light and transmits this light to a spectrometer to be analyzed. The spectrometer generates and displays spectral measurements of the fluorescence light and the reflectance light which in together assist the user in diagnosing the disease site. The apparatus makes use of a conventional personal computer using a plug-in spectrometer card to provide a compact and low costs system. The system performs combined fluorescence and reflectance spectral analysis in a quick and efficient manner to provide a powerful tool for dermatologic diagnosis.

  • Patent number: 6033397
Abstract: A catheter delivers an electrode within a vein for a minimally invasive treatment of esophageal varices using RF energy. The catheter is introduced into and positioned within the section of the vein to be treated. The electrode radiates high frequency energy towards the vein, and the surrounding venous tissue becomes heated and begins to shrink. The extent of shrinkage of the vein is detected by fluoroscopy. The electrode remains active until there has been sufficient shrinkage of the vein. The electrode may remain active for an extended period of time so as to promote a thickening of the immediately surrounding esophageal tissue. The catheter includes a controllable member for limiting the amount of shrinkage of the vein to the diameter of the member. After treating one section of the vein, the catheter and the electrode are repositioned within the venous system to treat different sections until all desired venous sections are rendered functionally competent.

  • Patent number: 5888135
Abstract: A key in a vehicle socket closes contacts to reset a vehicle microcontroller to a neutral state. Ribs disposed in a particular pattern in the key operate switches in a particular pattern in the vehicle to provide an address for the vehicle with the vehicle inactive but powered. When the vehicle receives such individual address from a pad within a first particular time period thereafter, the vehicle is operated by commands from the pad. The pad operates the vehicle as long as the vehicle receives commands from the pad within the first particular period after the previous command from the pad. During this period, the vehicle has a first illumination to indicate that it is being operated. When the pad fails to provide commands to the vehicle within such first particular time period, the vehicle becomes inactive but powered and provides a second illumination. While inactive but powered, the vehicle can be addressed and subsequently commanded by any of the pads including the pad previously addressing the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5656176
Abstract: An apparatus and method of manufacturing a prepacked resin bonded well liner comprised of bonding granular particles to a perforated pipe. The granular particles are coated with a partially polymerized resin that is hard and tacky to the touch. Upon the introduction of heat, the polymerization proceeds, curing the resin into an insoluble and infusible cross-linked state. The contact regions between the adjacent particles bond the packed particles into a porous and permeable matrix.
