  • Patent number: 4022130
Abstract: A warhead fuze is attached within the warhead casing in such a manner that ressure buildup will cause the fuze mechanism to be ejected from its housing. The fuze and its associated booster is contained in a cup attached to an end cap which may be threaded to receive a closure cap. The joint between the booster cup and the end cap is made in such a manner that pressure buildup within the cup will case the joint to fail with a resultant expulsion of said booster cup away from the main explosive cavity.

  • Patent number: 4005655
Abstract: An extensible aerodynamic stabilizer and retarder apparatus for use on the ail section of free fall weapons. The apparatus replaces the conventional tail fins previously used to stabilize such weapons. The disclosed apparatus is capable of collapsing to a diameter no larger than that of the diameter of the weapon itself. A weapon embodying the present invention can be usable in either of two retarding modes at the option of the aircraft pilot. The stabilizer and retarder comprises a plurality of pivotally attached fin members positioned symmetrically about the aft end of the bomb and connected together at their free ends by a strong flexible material. The attached fin members form a cylindrical area or chamber within which a flexible inflatable conical shaped bag is stored for deployment where a high drag mode of operation for the weapon is required.

  • Patent number: 3964393
Abstract: An igniter for a bore safe flare comprising a piston member and a cap mem designed to cause ignition only after the flare grain has cleared the launcher. Flame from the firing charge cannot reach the flare grain for ignition until separation of cap and piston. The cap member is fixed in the base of the flare grain and carries the ignition mix which projects into a central bore of the piston.
